i dont think u need to program a key to start the engine... my 01 has just a standard metal key... no transponders or none of that.... and it starts my car just fine. (Your profile does say a 2000....) maybe ur talking about a newer car?

well when i had my remote starter installed they though there was a chip in the key since thats what there computers told them, so he might be just mis informed
if you already have the key and it opens the door and doesnt start the ignition then thats a common problem, chances are you have to bring your VIN to the dealership and get them to cut you a new key, any key i've ever tried to get cut anywhere never worked in the ignition
