I used to be, my dad is big time. He's had several large layouts, and probably has $50K in locomotives and other parts. I'd be happy to introduce you to him next time you are out, he's a big member in the model RR club down in Belen NM, they have a HUGE layout.
Oh, and he works for BNSF too.

I was surprised to see the loco in the second picture. That is the interim paint from when BN and SF merged. I saw a couple of the silver and red warbonnets as well but they were on the opposite side of the road, so the pictures didn't turn out.

me? no so much. I really have no interest in a vehicle without a steering wheel or handlebars.
My 2 year old daughter however thinks they are amazing. She loves to go down by the river about 3 minutes from the house. Barges on one side and trains on the other.

sad to see these falling apart. My great grandmothers house used to have train tracks in the back yard and there is a railroad switch yard not to far away as well,Con-Rail's or CSX now.
The look and awe of a train is just great. I could spend hours at a model RR or even full size museums.
Good topic Java...
I've been into trains for years both real and models.
We used to put up a huge layout for xmas every year but it got to be too much and now it sits in the garage getting old and broken down 02.gif .
There are tons of trains around here so I'm lucky enough to get to see some real ones every now and then when they run through town.
One day I hope to have my own permanent model railroad set up in the basement. Something new I found is layouts permanently outside that run all year.
