lol, yeah, sure for 4200, i could see it would be a great deal. but it wouldnt come with a engine, drivetrain, interior. you might get some body parts but not all of them. if they dont provide a vin, tell them to kiss it.
hell, even if its only 4k, its stil worth a plane ticket to go out and look at it imo. i would if it was my money.

yeah, i agree. its a simple car buy. the seller is making it overly complicated.
ask them if its ok for them to drop the car at your work, which happens to be happyville police station

I realize this is an old thread, but people should know about this.... People actually fall for it! I found one of these once. The lady said she was selling the car for so cheap because she was pregnant and had to get rid of it. She said car was packed at a shipping company ready to go. This person also wanted to do the transaction through e-bay and said e-bay would protect my decision for 5 days. I even ran a carfax which showed a re-po but no other issues. After going back and forth with this person for 3 days, I said "I have to see a copy of the title!" and asked, "why cant the shipping company fax me a copy?" She stopped talking to me all of a sudden hahaha!- True story!

I've heard of a few ebay scams just like that.
There is also another scam going on on Craigslist/Kijiji in Canada, both my friend and sister were looking to buy from the same scammer, the car was the same with two different stories, but the jist of it was that the guy was moving to the USA to join his wife who had been working there. The car is in the city of the buyer, but before he comes back to sell the car/test drive he wants to make sure the buyer has the money, so he asks them to put the money into an escrow account.
I don't actually know how he gets the money, however I've seen the same story on a few other sites now. I'm just guessing that once the buyer puts money in the escrow account, the seller changes his story again and says he needs part of the money to pay for his trip back to (city of buyer) and the buyer, feeling bad, gives it to him trustingly. Could be wrong.
Relating to the original thread, I was talking to my cousin yesterday and he was telling me about his friend who sent $1000 to some guy for a boat through ebay, just like the OP said, and he lost his money. The story was someone had already paid for the boat, but then couldn't come up with the money for shipping and then lost contact, so the person was just selling the boat (a $15,000 boat) off for $1000, which is the estimated cost of shipping it a few states over.
