Yeah man, at least fight it. Say you were not speeding and all that jazz. They might throw the book at you but I doubt it. If it's your first time they are normally pretty good with it.
Keep in mind, your parents will find out!!! Are you under their insurance?? If you are it shows up on your driving record for that year. After fighting it, pay it, then tell them about it. Cause when the yearly statement comes through and they see it without you telling them, they'll prolly be pissed. Don't ask how I know this.

It WILL make your insurance go up (I think haz. driving is like 4 points or somethin), unless you fight it. There's two choices (don't qoute me on this your state laws may be different but most are set up like this):
1.) Go to mitigation hearing, contest it, they'll most likely let you off, unless
they're b****es like the police department around where i live. If they are then they'll probably lower your fine, but'll it will still go on your driving record.
2.) Deferred prosecution: They will make you pay fine in full, but it won't go on your record under one condition: YOU DON'T GET ANY TRAFFIC INFRACTIONS FOR 6 MONTHS, If you do then both the tickets go on your record.
Your choice man, oh yeah your parents WILL find out, just be up front with em. I'm in the middle of this shit myself right now 02.gif

I DEFINATELY agree with all those who said TELL YOUR PARENTS. They are going to find out and that's for sure. I got my ticket racing a civic, and I just paid it up front and didn't say anything about it, just paid and hoped since it was in a different state nothing else would happen...yea, I was wrong. Best thing to do is like everyone said, go to the trial and try to at least lower the points or fine to reduce the sting and tell your parents.
You need to go to court and find out what the deal is or contact the court before your court date. I have had a couple of tickets (more like 5 or 6) in the county that I live in and what you do is go to court, and they offer you court supervision. You have to pay the $75 fine, plus 'court costs' which totals the fine to $153. It is just sad how I know this.
You are told that you can't get anymore tickets within 3 months, but in my experences and those of my friends, as long as you get court supervision every time, they will not find out because it is like they just delete it from your record as soon as you pay the $153.
Now, the other weekend I was driving in the Bloomington area and got another ticket. I was happy to leave the scene with a ticket for 50 in a 30 because the cop was talking about taking me to jail for 63MPH in a 30MPH zone, illegal exhaust, illegal blue lights, and he did not like it too much when he found my police scanner.
Anyway, I now have 3 options. 1) pay the $75 ticket and be done with it. It would go on my record. 2) fight the ticket (and probably end up with the ticket on my record, the court costs, and the fine) 3) Pay $100, go to a driving class for 4 hours on a Saturday afternoon and the ticket stays off my record. Option 3 sounds the best to me. If I were you, I would check into Court Supervision so that it doesn't go on your record.

be lucky they did not decide to get you for racing. You CAN get a ticket for street racing even if you NEVER break the speed limit. Just about anything can be written up as a contest of speed if the cop is in a foul enough mood
