I hate to say it...but I would call the title on this one...."I'm as Stupid as Rice Boys".

You were following this two Yahoo's way to close if you could not stop in time without doing a 180 yourself. That proves you were just as stupid as they were.

Think on that next time you try to judge others.

MORAL OF STORY: FOOLS RACE IN RAIN. Like I said, maybe its the tib drivers are smarter....lol
Thats why I have AWD wink
AWD isn't going to save your butt if you lock 'em up or exceed your wet handling limits... God help you if you think it does.
Any car that "locks up" in the rain at 60+mph is most likely a goner. Did you notice that wink there? I'm pretty sure you'll find out what that wink means.

sheesh, leave for day and get leveled by the hyundai gods. Pardon me, but the reason for MY 180 wasnt due to following to close, it was mainly do to panic! If you see a car in front of you (mind you I was doing 45 or less which was the speed limit) you tend to panic a bit especially in rain. The reason I was judging others, was because they were doing 60 or more and blatently racing in rain. If that makes me as stupid as them, does that make you as stupid as a guy that slams on his brakes in the rain and you hit him? I lose control in panic, not racing, and I'm the bad guy. Think not. Try the "not judging" yourself. No offense just clarifying. smile.gif

If you re-read my post, I made not mention of speed. DISTANCE.

Again....if you could not stop in time, you were following to closely, and/or driving to fast for road conditions.

They could have been doing 150 and you 30...but if you still did a 180 when you got to them. You were too close, and/or driving too fast for the road conditions.

From 45 MPH, on wet pavement, you should be able to stop within 125 feet.

From your description...it sounds like you did a 180 AROUND the eclipse and ended up behind him.

Why didn't you start to slow as soon as you saw the eclipse start to fishtail? Why didn't you simply brake? There should have been at least 125 feet between you and them...right? You were doing 45, they were accelerating past 60...

Something tells me you were moving faster than you claim, and were much closer than you claim for it to go down like you claim.

Regardless.

You were following to closely for conditions
you were following to closely for your driving skill
You were going to fast for road conditions.

You were doing THE SAME THING they were doing (going to fast). If they were stupid in your book. SO ARE YOU.

I'm using YOUR YARDSTICK for measuring stupid, not mine. You were the one who claimed what they were doing was stupid. not me.

One of them ended up spining out 180 degrees...you called him stupid.
You spun out 180 degrees...thus you are just as stupid.

Don't get me wrong here...I'm glad no one was hurt, and that everyone drove away, but what you did was no better. Remember, the speed limit is the MAX SPEED you can do on DRY PAVMENT durring the DAY TIME. Let's throw in rain, dark, and 2 guys trying to race in front of you... And you still think what you did was "wise"?

Had I been INTENTIONALLY racing in rain..no prob, I'm stupid. I wasnt. Its the fact of street racing modded cars inbetween stop lights on a busy road that doesnt sound smart. Regardless, main point is no one hurt and no cars were wrecked.

I'd agree with Random on this one... why would you panic if you were far enough behind them to realize you needed to brake, and maybe if you were paying attention to the light you would have seen that it wasnt green any longer and been slowing down... hmm...

ANYTIME you panic you have exceeded you abilities...period. Backpeddling and making excuses does nothing to change this fact. You f'ed up and did something stupid but didn't die... this time. Don't brag about it. Learn from you f'up and don't let it happen again.
