I finally got my tibby back in working condition. A lot of you guys on RD know the trouble Ive had with the tibby after I turbocharged it. I made some topics with pleas of help and everything. Well there was someone here on RD who was willing to take my tibby under his wing to get it running again. My tib had to make a nice journey from NJ to upstate NY but it was worth it. Now before I thank this person again (lol) Ill just write the problems I had.

Problems:

Misfiring

Some type of brick wall thing happening when I hit 3k rpm on full throttle

Car stalling or idling bad when bov was hooked up.

Car hesitating horribly.

Things that were found upon arrival of my tib:

My oil return line was 'kinked' and the oil could not exit the turbo and it was getting choked up. The moron who first installed my car knew it was kinked but still left it, and put a ziptie on it to try and fix the kink but it did nothing. The turbo seals ended up blowing under the pressure . The turbo was crap anyway..when i got it from someone here on RD it had too much shaft play for not "ever being used". And the turbo was also a Mercedes turbo! wow.

There was a hole in my intake tube that was covered by electrical tape; my vacuum lines were ALL messed up, both the product of the fine mechanical skills that dumbass who put my turbo on possesed. My bov was leaking (but I knew that already).

The couplers on my intercooler werent tightened enough and they ended up popping off, and at one point my manifold bolts were finger tight, this is from the same guy who said he is maticulous about making sure things are tight.

My spark plugs were fouled beyond belief.

Luckily, regarding the turbo I just bought one so I didnt have to spend more money at the time the tib was getting fixed.

So now I finally have my tibby back. I hadnt driven her in about five months and I only saw her once or twice during those months. Trust me, I was scared driving her home but she ran really well. Now all I have to do is get her tuned and thats happening as soon as I get back to NJ in a week or so. I didnt get it tuned while it was getting fixed because I needed my car back because I need a way to get to school exams. I gave my tib a good wash and wax and changed the oil when i got it back..so she got even more star treatment.

One piece of advice for you guys that are just turboing: spend a little more and get a wideband instead of the regular air/fuel gauge. #1 it looks awesome and #2 it works really well on telling you whats really going on with your car.

I spent lots on the tibby with the turbo..probably around 5k. I learned a lot of lessons during this ordeal and learned a lot about turbocharging. I havent kicked the guy who did my first install in the nuts yet; but if I ever see him again I will. Damn Honda guy. He actually wanted my dad to go work at the shop he opened up but my dad refused because of all he put me through.

Alright, well I really want to thank Brian, aka Viper966 again for fixing up my car.

Again, I really do appreciate it. I know she was a big mess but its not my fault as you know. It was hard to find good help in NJ and I really had no hope the tib would get fixed. You brought her back to life and thats all I wanted.

Brian still fixed my car even after he found out 9,485 things that we didnt know about that needed to be fixed and even was willing to give up some of his ultra thin spare time in order to do it. For those of you who dont know brian works 60+ hours a week, goes to school full time, works on his car, builds turbo kits for people, and was still nice enough to take my project in when i needed it most. Props to brian guys.

Oh and brian we extended the wires and got the wideband to the pillar, and the reason you couldnt get it off is because there was a bolt holding it on hehe lmao.gif

congrat SwiftTibby. I wish I can get a reliable mech available in my country to turbo-charge my Tibs.

Brian is the MAN.

One question. Was he wearing a button up shirt and slacks when working on your car?

Congrats Swift!!! 5k is nothing, I spent about that much and I'm slower than an RSX...

I'm really happy Viper966 was able to get her all nice and tidy. It must be a great feeling to know that everything is finally repaired. Don't test her yet until you get her tuned. Although I must say, it must be incredibly tempting. Your car is so amazing...

I wish my car were like that, I'm really glad you decided to stick with it and have faith. You were telling me that earlier. We spoke about turbos being like babies and causing a lot of problems. But then you said it was all worth it in the end. And it really is.

Hope you did good on your exams, take it easy, relax, summer is here.
