well me and the wife have almost decided to sell the mustang off and get a new car
she wants somethin a little easier to get in and out of and a larger back seat and naturally im pushing getting another 4 door tib!!
she doesnt like hyundais cuz they break down alot(like my car) but she is starting to understand that it brakes cuz i beat the shit out of it owned.gif
im pushing getting another j2 and having 2 and i need some responses from you guys on what you honestly think about hyundais and there quality
here is what im throwin at her for reasons to buy another E
1. i know the car i can fix it and have you guys to help
2. i now have connections everywhere and know where to buy parts for cheap if needed
3. parts are cheaper to buy than a toyota
4. its a 4 door so its easier to get out
5. handles way better than her mustang (and i mean way)
6. if i upgrade i can save the parts just in case it breaks
7. insurance is CHEAP on a j2 im probably paying about 50 bux less than you guys(that are around the same age as me)...for almost the same car
8. i know exactly what to look for when buying a E and how much there worth (plus little ways here and there to knock down the price)
we will not buy a tib so dont ask lol

Yeah, buy another one & do one up as a turbo'd street racer & the other one as a luxo supercharged cruiser.
The racer would have lightweight rims, lots of CF, vents, stripped interior, racing seats, low kit, etc... Whereas the other one would be pimped-out with leather, maybe chromies, airbags, clean kit, ICE, limo tint, etc...
If I had two Tibs, that's what I would do fing02.gif

Give her your car, and buy a Tib.

Hyundai quality? I admit, I thrash on the Tib a little bit. Not as bad as some people here, but I give her a good rev every now and then. It runs strong. The only problem I've had is starting issues when I leave the car sitting for three-four days. Its great on gas, its somewhat peppy, and it gets me where I need to go safely.
After having an accident in the Tib, I feel comfortable that it protects me like it should. Any other car and I would've broken my legs in the accident I had.

My moms 98 FORD Expedition (120,000 miles) has had a few recalls, changing the spark plugs on that V8 costs like $250, the starter has been replaced, the keyless entry stopped working, the windows roll down, but won't always roll back up, the rear wiper blade and rear washer fluid line have been "fixed" 3 times and still don't work, the 4-wheel drive option KICKS IN on it's own every once in a while....
My dads 98 Chrysler Sebring Convertible (110,000 miles) has a broken top (one of the hydraulic lifts broke, it's still functional but needs help getting up and down, $1900 to fix), the driver's side door panel has broken twice to wear it just starts falling off, the driver's side window tract doesn't work (can go up much further than supposed to), has a battery that can only be replaced by removing the driver's side front wheel, and the tachometer/digital mileage display only work about 20% of the time (faulty electrical) and has been that way since about 60,000 miles. Dealership can't figure the problem out.
My 2000 Tib (107,000 miles) had a recall on the seatbelt (not a real big thing), had the TPS replaced under warranty, and had the tranny replaced under warranty. That's about it. shrug.gif It has a bad temperature sensor that I haven't been able to fix yet, but doesn't affect the car. Other than that, it's been more reliable than any other cars in my family.
My girlfriend's 98 Mustang (40,000 miles) has had 2 recalls on it, but she doesn't drive it enough for it to break down.
My girlfriend's cousin's Ford Focus had a recall on the fuel injectors. One dealership said they'd look at it, but if she didn't need the recall then they'd charge her for having to inspect it. She took it elsewhere and they said it was so bad the vehicle may have blown up had they not caught it in time. She was hit by another car and went into the ditch (not a very deep ditch) and the frame was twisted so bad it was totalled. Really not a very bad accident, the car didn't looked damaged except for a few scratches and a curbed wheel, but it was totalled because of frame damage.
My girlfriend's mom's 2001 FORD Expedition has had 4 major recalls. Had some problems with it but I don't know details.
Hyundai > Ford
Ford has more problems than Hyundai.... and at least Hyundai will cover it under warranty. 100,000 & 10yrs ain't bad.

I've owned 2 tibs and never had a major issue (unless I caused it lol).
Tibs just haven't been around long enough to really find out how long they'll last and really be tested like the civics and such. Hell, most members here are still under 100k.
Anyway, I probably wouldn't want another for the wife if I already had one..one project car is enough (unless you're gonna do what oz says).
Go for one of the other 4 doors...lancer, wrx, speed, maybe even a newer carolla
But what you should really give her your car and buy a tib nana.gif

Get a Tib. cool.gif
Hyundai is ranked only behind Toyota for reliability. Tied with Honda, and guess which one has a better warranty. Why do you think they break down a lot? Change that to "Hyundais modified with various power adders" and I might agree.

relaibility?
I have had two hyundais.. one a car most people would consider a major POS.. an 88 Excel and my Tib
The excel's only problems not related to rallying... I went through an exhaust section a year due to rust and the rear wiper stopped working. I did manage to go through several CV joints and a transmission (at 150,000 miles) in the cars 167,000 mile life.
My tib, at 117,000 miles (today) has had it's trans replaced at 30,000 due to a loose washer (machined itself from the inside out due to faulty assembly) and had two bad wheel bearings, a bad handbrake cable, and a seatbelt recall... I am still on the original clutch! (I think, saw no documentation about them replacing it with the trans)
Now, my parents also had a pair of Mercury Marquis' An 84 and 89 model. Neither one had any major problems either in their 100,000+ lifespan. My father is a great believer in preventitive maintance, being an ex-navy engineer will due that to you.

well as was stated
no tib for me or the wife im not into bling so why would i want to get cf this and that (half a carbon fiber car looks tacky anyways)
im keeping my car i wont give it to her cuz with the work ive done to it i dont wanna do it again to another car
my car is getting stripped completely hell its already half way there
its gettin a supercharger and nitrous plus the mods i have done already and others i have lined up for it
(9:1 cast compression pistons, ported and polished head, 1.8 cam, either a beta 2 or my engine rebuilt)
her car will remain STOCK other than appearance things for her

basically if we sell the mustang the car we purchase will have to be around what we sell the mustang for
which is about 3-5 grand...
im not going to have a 500 car/insurance payment on a wrx, evo, or whatever brand new car if i was gonna do that i would by a house cool.gif
so far shes almost to the point to agree with me...she saw a silver j2 today and liked it
