it's nice, but it's too edgy and the materials look hard as well. it's got no taste, no class, just simplicity. it would make me feel like i'm in a dorm room and the windows as if i were at my local library.
i suppose the German blood in me likes the cottage feel. the real, natural, filled with vegetation...stone...etc, uncommercialized feel.

Simplicity and elegance, yes, because you don't want anything to take away from the landscape and scenery surrounding the house. The focus should be on the ocean, the mountains, the peninsula. From inside the house, your focus and attention is drawn to your surroundings outside.
Also, keep in mind that this is a new house. No colors, no paint, nothing hung on the wall to put holes where you might not want holes. It's a blank canvas with a little furniture.
When I look at it, I see simplicity, but I also see an intentional lack of interior walls, an abundance of windows on the exterior walls, and a very open floor plan that allows you to enjoy the beauty of the surrounding natural landscape.

i've seen (not personally haha) way cooler projects. despite it being a new house, this is one of those "get nothing for something" scams. like an expensive luxurious restaurant where there's barely anything on your plate and all you're doing is giving your money away to the staff just because you're sitting in their restaurant.
I don't think the house itself is worth $1M. Unfortunately, they're selling the location, which is funny because some of the most beautiful vistas I've seen were in the slums of Ensenada, Mexico where homes are made of garage doors with dirt floors.
