Default Tennessee "Monkey Bill"

I'm not sure what's so bad about this.

This is what was passed.

People are all up in arms about how teachers will now start teaching creationism and false global warming information like how solar cycles can affect climate on earth as opposed to just humans.

the ACLU has been all over several local school districts for prayer meetings before school on the public school lawns, meetings organized before/after school by students, some included teachers, etc. etc. It's ridiculous. The school isn't promoting it, it isn't encouraging it, it's simply held on the public property.

The laws states that the government can't promote or restrict religious expression, and all the ACLU does is restrict.

To know what's bad about the Bill, you need to look at the language. It's written to look like it says science is good. However, what it really says is that science is good, but it's also OK to teach kids that science is bad. Any theories that cannot be backed up but the Scientific Method have no place in a taxpayer funded public school. In private school, feel free to teach that the moon is made of cheese.

so you're suggesting we should stop teaching anything we can't prove through experiments? Such as biological evolution or chemical creation?

"Backed up by the Scientific Method" and "prove through experiments" are not synonymous.

Then I don't understand the difference between the theories, as neither can be proven true/false.

You can't "prove" evolution through experiments, however you can conduct experiments. You can't even conduct experiments to prove or disprove creationism. You can't even construct an actual Hypothesis. The whole theory is that God created everything... that's it... end of story.
