Should have been a little less interested in the cameraman and more interested in the curve ahead.

Waving and showing off just cost that guy his bike, a vette fender, and his pride.

and nothing of value was lost.

This is the part that really sucks, posted on a local forum:

"The tragedy of this accident is that later that day Jeff, a very good local sports bike rider hit fluids left from this accident and is in serious condition. Last I heard the damage was every rib broken, both lungs punctured, back broken, neck broken, lacerated liver. I think there was more but you get the idea. All starting because some clown was trying to show off for the camera. Jeff is still in the ICU and we're hoping to hear good news soon."

^^Yeah, but how fast was he going. If he was doing 25, I doubt he'd have serious injuries.

It really depends man. Have you driven those roads? It's a cliff. People die almost every year on that 11 mile stretch of road. I know 3 have died since June alone. If you lay down a bike, chances are you're going into the side of the mountain, down an embankment into a tree, or into an oncoming vehicle.

25-35mph on that turn most likely.

Speed limit used to be 50mph but was lowered to 40 then 30mph due to accidents and casualties.

And what do you consider serious injuries?

Last I heard the damage was every rib broken, both lungs punctured, back broken, neck broken, lacerated liver.

Now that really sucks. This a**hole was showing off, wasn't paying attention and now someone else is seriously injured as a result.

Old guy on the cruiser was either new or a "returning" rider. When he realized he was going to fast for the corner, instead of leaning harder and risking a lowside, he panicked, and tensed up. Tensing up causes the bike to stand up and go straight at whatever it's pointing at... in this case, a 'Vette.

Thanks for the explanation.. I was wondering why in the world it looked like he could have made the turn then aborted in favor of attempting to kill a GM.
