Stephen Hawking
I saw a commercial the other day about him being the smartest man on the planet. Anyone else believe this? I would think there would be scientists or engineers out there that are way smarter....but who am I to judge I guess. lol

It's hard to determine who is functionally smartest. For example, the guy with the highest IQ ever hasn't contributed much to the world but he's the smartest man to ever take the IQ test. Stephen Hawking is a physics genius. That doesn't necessarily make him the smartest man alive though. Most geniuses have something that they're exceptionally good at comprehending, and outside of their field of expertise it's hard to compare them to one another.
