Student shocked to find nobody else sees his threat on Tumblr as 'art'
Caleb Clemmons, a 20-year-old student at Georgia Southern University, is facing up to five years in prison for a violent threat (or as he might put it, "an experimental literary piece and art project") posted on his personal Tumblr. The Feb. 8 post read: "hello. my name is irenigg and i plan on shooting up georgia southern. pass around to see the affect it has. to see if i get arrested." Guess what happened next? Clemmons was arrested only a few hours after making the post and has spent the past six months in jail, unable to pay his $20,000 bond. Clemmons maintains that the post was only meant as the worst social media experiment imaginable. Police found no further evidence of a planned attack.
