So, will China's economy ever surpass the economy of the United States?
I remember my old geography teacher in college telling us that it is a mathematical certainty that a country with a population of 1.3 billion people will eventually surpass a country of 300 million people economically. Is that true?

It will if the economy in China develops at all. The only reason China and India don't have us beat is because the majority of the populations are extremely poor and don't operate on credit. Poor people without access to credit are terrible consumers.

Look at their growth and unemployemnt rates, I'd say their debt as a % of GDP is quite a bit lower than that of the US.
