My usual 9 to 5 job is no more.. with business slowing to a trickle, my boss could not long afford to support me as his inventory Control Manager. Unlike most everyone else in the shop, my position was the only one that did not generate revenue in a direct way.. so I was sent packing as of the 13th of october (happy birthday to me....)
The Producers, which I had been on the show run with at Harrah's left on the 14th. After a LONG (21 hour work day) we got them in the trucks and on their merry way to Wilmington Del. So much for that job..
I went from 72 hours a week combined... to 72 hours a week?
I take "casual" calls at several of the casinos here in town as an On-call employee.. As those two jobs have dried up, other things have appeared to take their place. One of the most interesting of which is the new company in town that nobody seems to know about.. Revel Entertainment Inc. Building just north of Showboat, they contracted me out to go up to Issington everyday for the next month to build a "mock" theatre in a warehouse there. I and the rest of the team I am involved in will be building the working part of a theatre from the ground up as a "show piece" for their board of directors to come in, see how it works, and then either yay or nay it for being taken apart and stored away for use in their new casino when it gets finished..
What a waste of cash.. but it is work for me.. plus I just took work at Borgata, Harrahs, Taj, and my own company's work season is just beginning..
My friends find is amusing how I am the hardest working laid off person they know. I have this unnatural ability to fall into shit and come up with a hand full of roses

Sucks to hear that mate... as far as the dollars are concerned, anyway.
If you didn't really like the job though, this'll probably end up being a God-send for you. Sometimes we just need a kick in the arse to make steps towards where we really want to be fing02.gif

my friends know me like that too! i'm the hardest working person they know yet come back with miserable, and i mean horifying grades from school yet i'm used to it and could really care less for stupid school. it's a stupid thing to say but i hate the college school system here and anything other than an internship of somekind is a waste of damn time.
sorry Art, but this means you might land a better job. what you hard working people need to realize is something called job-hopping where every next job beats the past ones. there was a millionaire that used to come to my restaurant and said something like "this time last year i was manager at starbucks". hahaha.
good luck.
