Default Snorkeling gear

I went snorkeling when I was in Hawaii and really enjoyed it.

After returning I looked into snorkeling and spearfishing in the ocean here. I snorkeled in rivers and lakes a lot when I was younger using an antiquated dive mask and snorkel. The snorkel I used in Hawaii was a million times better than the old snorkel I was using before. The mask was about a million times worse. I'm hesitant to buy a mask or snorkel over the net without someone having some personal experience with it.

Anyways, even though the ocean here is incredibly cold all year, I'm going to try it without a wetsuit. That's an expense that I can spring for if it appears that I'll get a lot of use out of it.

At this point I have:

56" speargun awaiting new bands
Suitable fins

But I need:
Mask (with purge valve)
Snorkel

And I'm not sure if I need:
Weight belt
Anything else

If I get decent at spearfishing I'll hook up the GoPro HD to the speargun and get some video. I'll mostly be going for black rockfish and ling cod.
