Default Since when is it illegal to record a cop?

Cop jumps out of unmarked car (no not a crown vic either) in plain clothes, gun in hand and charges at a guy on a running motorcycle yelling at him to get off his bike WITHOUT IDENTIFYING HIMSELF AS A POLICE OFFICER AND WITHOUT A BADGE DISPLAYED. The police then charge motorcyclist for illegally recording police officer serve him with a search warrant and confiscate all his computer equipment, etc.

QUOTE
A Harford County man now faces up to five years in prison after he recorded a bizarre traffic stop last month in Harford County.

Anthony Graber was riding his motorcycle with a camera attached to his helmet recording his ride.

It happened near the Riverside exit of I-95. A Maryland State trooper in an unmarked car pulled over Graber for speeding. The trooper is seen in a YouTube video that Graber posted, jumping out of the car and tells Graber "Get off the motorcycle, get off the motorcycle! Get off the motor cycle, State Police."

The trooper is seen pulling his gun immediately after getting out of the unmarked car. It's not until five seconds after he exits the car that he identifies himself a Maryland State trooper.

IF that law actually applies in this case, it would be illegal to use a camcorder in public at all in case someone happened to talk near you. Sounds completely bogus.

As far as the plain clothed officer in the unmarked car coming at him with a gun without identifying himself that's stupid on the part of the cop, and there's no way they could hold it against the guy on the bike for backing away from the guy who didn't identify himself at all.

i think the way the trooper handled the situation was okay. he had no time for introductions as the guy was on a moving fast bike. i see those motorcyclists on i-95 doing crazy things, i've even seen one that had just wiped out into the median. it's very dangerous.

as far as the videotape thing, well maybe it keeps people from being recorded.

there was one time this very thing happened in front of my work. an 18-year old got pulled over by an off-duty U.S. Marshall. they got into a verbal dispute, and kid rolled out in his Camaro SS. Marshall turned and fired two shots, one clean through the windshield and into his head killing him instantly.

Whatever the outcome, the tard on the bike deserves what he gets for being a moron on a public highway. This is why I frown upon the "share the road" stickers. Dicks like this don't deserve the damn space!
