Should there be a noise ordinance law for motorcycles?
Since I know alot of people get harassed by police for their exhausts, i was just thinking that maybe the same rules should apply for motorcycles. Harley's and cruisers specifically. Theres a couple of harley riders in my neighborhood with incredibly loud exhausts and they always wake people up early in the mornings or late at night. I figure if police are gonna ticket me for my "aftermarket" exhaust then they should also pull over bikers and give them the same tickets. Do you agree?

I agree, provided the exhaust isn't stock. Even stock Harley exhaust can have a serious rumble. Replacing that though, or removing the baffles is just unnecessary.

I used to get pulled over on my ZX-7 for it all the time. One time, my buddy ended up in cuffs after he b*tched out a cop for passing two Harley's with straight pipes to pull us over (we were in front of the Harley's). I'm all for it if it's enforced for ALL bikes, not just bike brands that cops don't ride.

I think that motorcycles and cars should have the same noise requirements, but I think the issue lies with the overly strict noise requirements for cars.
Loud pipes saving lives is stupid IMO. If you want to be enclosed in a cage of safety don't ride a motorcycle. Most of the bikes on the road that are annoyingly loud cost more than any car I've ever owned so it's a lifestyle choice.

Motorcycles are small and nearly invisible. Loud pipes save lives.
Unless it's right next to you, there's no telling where the noise is coming from...

As someone who's been riding since '94, "loud pipes save lives" is the biggest crock of sh*t, thought up by Harley riders to justify their straight pipes. You can't hear a loud pipe when the bike is coming towards you, only after it passes.

I agree! I've been riding for about 6 years now. My current bike is a CBR-1000 (crotch rocket), and having loud pipes doesnt mean sh*t for safety. If you ride like an idiot, expect to get hit...ride with safety and a smart head, you'll be fine....enough said!
