I'm wondering how he blew the engine though. 130-140 shouldn't be a problem for a Z06 corvette?

yeah wonder why the engine blew!! if it hadn't blown he would have probably been well off but obviously they have his license plate on tape. why would you run if they got your plates?!!!!!

He probably shifted down instead of up and blew the engine.

I think I believe the cop who needs to up shift when your going 130? He was driving over 100 miles an hour from San Clamente to La Jolla I live in the area it takes an avg of 45 mins to an hour to get that far and that going 75-80 mph the whole way...I think it just blew cause of the length of time and speeds. the engine was prolly sitting high in the rpms the whole way.

Who needs to upshift at 130? People with cars with power and high speed gearing.

An '03 Z06, at 6500rpm's:

1st- 51mph
2nd- 73mph
3rd- 106mph
4th- 151mph
5th- 180mph
6th- 269mph (if you could get one to 6500rpm in 6th)

130mph is:
5600rpm in 4th
4704rpm in 5th
3136rpm in 6th

Compare that to the '03 Accent which would be at 5777rpm in 5th gear at 130mph. 3136rpm (130mph in the Z06) gets you to 70mph in the '03 Accent. Cruising at anything less than about 165mph is leisurely for the Z06.
