I have no intention is starting sh!t. I support the folks that protect my rights 100%. I have several members of my family that have served and some that are currently serving in Iraq.
But are we to presume that all folks who did not serve are cowards:

since their coward asses have never served!

And, we are quite capable of speaking for ourselves

And I was always under the impression that if the military wanted you to have an opinion, they'd give you one.

Again not trying to start sh!t, but I sometimes feel like military folks look down on civilians.

Hey you forgot two important lines to that.

---If you can read this thank a teacher----

---If you can read this in English thank a Veteran---

I am in the United States Air Force as a Firefighter, been in for 2 1/2 years and plan on going atleast 20years!

I love this, i post it at my work and call most of them civilians its quite funny to see there expressions. (Just do it jokingly)

lmao.gif I took this as a laugh. I don't call civilians cowards, they just chose to go a different route. There are those of us that have it inside us to put ourselves out there. I don't think this post was to be made out as offensive twards anyone, especially non service civilians.

I posted this in my myspace profile and had one person get offended. I got in an argument over it and it was stupid, just don't get all taking things personal and keep an open mind. How bout all the times civilians bash on military guys for being stupid and for having to sign up because the judge and jury told them to. There are so many jokes out there twards service members and I don't see anyone crying over someone getting called a jarhead or grunt. If your a non service guy or girl, don't take offense to this, like I said I see it as a laugh or something to get a little smirk over. Unless the guy who posted this said I hate civilians and its totally directed at you, please again don't get the panties in a bundle. I've seen tons of my military buddies comment on the post and liked it, and laughed but we all know its not poking at civilians or degrading them in any way for not serving.

As for the looking down on civilians, it goes both ways. There are many out there who look down on the military, it all depends on who you come across and it you can tell between a joke and something serious....

Yeah it's hard to tell sometimes with people, especially when stuff is posted online. I support you guys 100% and never take for granted what they put on the line to protect our freedoms. One of my restaurants is located right outside Otis ANG/AFB and we serve hundreds of military personal everyday. We even received an award from the National Gaurd for our support.

Awesome!! My mom's been in for over 20 years, served in Desert Storm and worked her tail off! I love it when people do truley show respect to vets or present military. When people stand in honor of them, a tingle goes down my spine and all down my body (all 6'9" of it). Please respect our troops, government, and those in authority!!

Military guys are just average guys who have all been through the same training, live, fight and work together as a team. Civilians are different in every aspect. One guy went to this school, another to this school.... you don't know what to expect. Which is why you hear military people say "i hate civilians". They're different.

As far as looking down on civilans, no. They do things differently then the military. They are usually more unorganized then the military. They have less regulations to follow then the military. The military is a very structured environment. Everyone has something in common with each other, if nothing else, basic training. Civilian life has it's advantages and disadvantages. Same with military life.

Civilians are why we're here. You hear alot about how good the military is and probly feel that way because of they way CNN portrays us and the "support our troops" campaigns. You hear about our tough fights and our efficiency and how we do things the best way they can be done. If the good deeds of our soldiers wasn't made public, day to day, noone would hear about it or keep it in mind. We'd be forgotten.

I come from a Military family.. we can trace it back, with pictures, back to the civil war and beyond in just names. My Father was Navy, I wanted to go in, but my health prevented it. I am 4F due to crohnes diseas (look it up).

As I have always said, I will always support the troops. They probably hate being in iraq as much as I hate the fact that they are there. I do not know if that is true, but I can hope. Never ever protest against the Military, protest against the espensive suits in washington who never served (or served in combat conditions) who decided to send the mlitary where it is.

They are just doing their job.. just as I get up every morning and do mine.
