Has anybody bought refurbished items in the past? I'm looking into buying an mp3 player but it is refurbished, since I haven't bought any refurbished items in the past, I was wondering if they work as good as if they were new.

Thanks.

the 37" widescreen lcd im typing on is refurbished, as well as my 8gb sandisk esansa mp3 player...

they are checked and licenced before they are sent out again. or should be, make sure to read the company's policys because some people just put stuff back on the shelf or w/e and some places dont allow returns on refurbished stuff

Refurbished is great. Anything that would go wrong with it within the first few months of use has already gone wrong and been fixed, so you're even better off. They usually come with a pretty good warranty and have a better price, so it's even better than new.

When PLaystation 1 and 2 came out, I bought both of them refurbished. I still have them today and they work perfectly fine. I also bought a Computer monitor, Keyboard, Cell Phones all refurbished. They're all good still

I'd trust refurbished. Think about how it's used though... I may not trust a refurbished cellular phone, nor a refurbished car stereo. Basically anything that gets touched by someone alot wears out. I'm a BioMedical Equipment Specialist. I constantly "refurbish" stuff in the hospital. I'll tell you for a fact, if the operator touches it, if it gets hot, or if it's under alot of pressure constantly, it will break eventually. Things that do not get touched or have coffee spilled on them generally stay good for a long time. When a manufacturer "refurbishes" things, they'll generally replace any items that will go out like belts or pushbutton covers, hard disk drives or other higher maintenance items. Check to see what your warranty is, and look online and check with the manufacturer to see what goes out and how long after they bought it.
