IMO, timing and a someone very good at shooting a pellet gun.
Shooter has a tell that he is going to pull the trigger in X seconds, dude with sword is ready before the shot. He just yanks the sword out at a practiced level. Require skill from both, yes. Did he really just do it without the crap I was just babbling about... hmmm
I only have experience shooting at things.. not slicing pellets with a sword.
