This is the most political I've been and probably ever will be on this board. I'm a registered Democrat. I'll probably vote for Obama to lead the dems but in the end may vote for Fred Thompson for President if he's the Republican candidate(Sorry, I have no clue who is leading in the republican race).
Also, I personally really hate the thought that the rich should pay more taxes just because they are rich and we are not. Why should they be burdened with a bigger percentage of their personal income being used to run the country? What's with everyone being anti-gay marriage? Let them be married too.

Taxes are something I've been trying to battle with, but I agree with moo.
The people who work their arse off to be successful, put in the 60-80 weeks as CFOs or other C-Level officers are already paying plenty in time at work, away from family. A successful married couple who makes $150,000 each, combines for $300,000 in income. That's a good chunk of change! But after taxes, they'll pay out nearly $80,000... reducing each of their incomes by $40,000. That just amazes me... But perhaps we should reclassify "rich" ... Making $300,000 ($220,000 post-tax) as a married couple is great... wish that was me... but that's not going to get you in a million dollar home anytime soon. Look at the tens of thousands of millionaires in the country (politicians, athletes) and the Billionaires (Gates, Oprah, Ingram, Cuban, Buffet, Turner, etc.)... that's the "rich" we should focus on.
I think instead of taxing the wealthy successful individuals, we need to tax the big multi-billion dollar companies such as Exxon and Microsoft!

Arg, so according to that my choices are 1. Huckabee and 2. Thompson. That's fine on Thompson because he's been my candidate so far, but here's my problem with huckabee. I absolutely cannot agree with his support of the 'fair tax', or what is in reality the national sales tax. It is in my mind one of the most foolish ideas in politics because it encourages people to not buy, which is necessary for a healthy economy in our country. I love the idea of the flat tax, or equal percentage across income brackets, but I just have an insane hard time supporting huckabee when he holds to this foolish idea.
