well a good friend of mine wants to buy a tiburon so im helping her out and doing the calling around

just wondering what i should ask for when on the phone and any questions to ask

and what about when i go to see the car?

my rd2 never really gave me any problems before so cant think of to many problem areas besides the obvious wheel bearings

figured heres a few good questions to ask on the phone
-vin #
-if there the first owner and if they have all service records
-any stains or messed up interior peices and the condition of the body
-if its ok for a 3rd party full inspection
-and if the clutch was ever replaced

she wants a rd2 but found a good price on a '99 RD1

I would ask about wheel bearings (might prove how honest the seller is, we all know how weak they are) Definatly ask about the timing belt. If it is a 97 or a 98.. ask if the front brakes have ever been replaced. the Captive rotors on those cars make disc replacement a serious PITA and expensive to boot.

Also, RD1 door panals tend to crack on the hard plastic, not so sure on the Rd2s

the captive rotors and evap canister was only on some of the 97 and 98's right? there are no 99's with the fx model right?

As far as I know.. the 99 Tib was the best of the RD1s. Regular rotors, evap canister in the right place. no drum rear brakes, 2.0 engine across the board.
