Question about turbo
I was kinda curious, and I don't know much about turbo vehicles, so I thought that I would ask. This may be an easy and dumb question, but could you have automatic transmission with turbo? The reason why I ask this is because I was asked if the WRX comes in automatic and I couldn't answer the question. Thanks.

You can buy an automatic WRX, i personally wouldn't but you can
|
Yes auto's work with turbos just fine.
|
I drive an Auto WRX(i live in town w/ bad left knee). Alot of people would defend that an automatic car will be alot better for the turbo. I don't really know about that but I love it to death. Consistient times!

Automatic+turbo? Ever heard of a Buick Grand National? 1/4mile wonders, but not good for anything else though.

Let's see, Fast Fords and Muscle Mustangs took a 1985 Tbird, which is the same size and weight as a BGN, and with 235 (!) series tires got it to handle at .92G on the skidpad, and that was with 1986 technology. Don't EVER count out a car for ANYTHING just because it's old or boxy. Wilwood makes 13" brakes for these cars, there's nearly two decades worth of suspension mods available for them, and the chassis has been proven modifiable. What else do you want? |
Do you see a Grand Nat at an AutoX? :D :D
|
Werd! You tell 'em BoOM. I'm not hating on the Buick GN, but it is a one note wonder car. Now, you show me some GNs that can handle like Silvias, Hachis, RX7s, BMWs, Skylines, EVOs, WRX STis, and the like and I'll definately be ready to admit I am wrong.

He was probably 25'th of 30 entrants, but that means 5 people in "regular" cars (read: hondas, nissans, toyotas) got owned. And that car's even bigger and heavier than a BGN. BGN's are rare cars, and generally get fitted with ladder bars for the 1/4 mile track since they excel at that stock. Once the ladder bars go on, handling is ****. But you lower it, give it poly bushings, sway bars, and a panhard bar for the rear, and I'll autocross one, and probably kick *** too. |
