Hey guys, i jsut wanted to share a recent purchase with you.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16822136325

Do you know how to download tv shows from the net but the process of putting them on DVD for the dvd player or hooking up your laptop to your tv is a pain in the ass? Well this little box is for you. It plays a multitude of files. It also can double as a digital picture frame and a mp3 player.

It is so easy and best part it has HDMI with it so plugging into the tv was a breeze. I would recommend this to anyone. The only thing people tend to complain about is that it has no on board storage. But for everything it does for as small as it is (probably 2 or 3 old Nintendo cartridges stacked is all the room it takes up) its something you can live with. Go grab one of these

If you guys have any other questions about it just ask.

These little boxes keep getting cooler and cooler. I've got the dsm-510 from d-link, I got it for about $70 when circuit city was going out of business. After a firmware update it's a really nice unit. I only use it to play video from my mythtv server over wireless though. haven't even tried video from the usb. I don't like that the WD unit's usb is on the back though. Seems like they should have one in both places or just on the front. Your going to be removing the usb stick to add more stuff frequently.

Does that box recognize upnp media servers? You could either setup a mythtv type machine or a windows media center box and play video directly from it.... Hold on. The WD box doesn't have network!!! hum... Not wonder it's so cheap. Well still a neat unit, just a different target audience.

Here's the newer version of mine the dsm-520, it got really big.

firmware hack and you can add wireless to it. so basicly hook up a external hard drive to it and boom, you cna just move files right to the hard drive and not have to worry about the dvd player and scaling and all that other bs.
