Down with obama!

Obama just said
QUOTE
We need incentives so you can buy fuel efficient vehicles. Vehicles made right here in America, not in Japan or South Korea.

Don't worry, that kind of retarded dribble will never make it to law

We still live in whats suposed to be a free market, and there are laws protecting that

I find it intresting that even Toyota has a vested intrest in the american automakers not failing, they share alot of the same suppliers, so they get a discounted price because Gm, Ford, Toyota, ect all buy the same piece.

GM is now making much better cars, lets hope Ford starts importing some of its european cars, some of the best cars in the world, the european focus is much MUCH better than the crap pile we have here

The american automakers have to survve on thier own, they may get loans, but they need to improve with better products

He said cars made here, not American cars. Last I checked, Hyundai makes it's US market Sonata's and Santa Fe's here. He wants to give foreign companies incentives to build here. This is better than what the Republican's have been doing... giving tax breaks to companies that relocate overseas.

What got me was the "use it or lose it" comment made to the oil companies and their land. What gives him or anyone the right to take away anyone's land just because they're not using it for what they want? What country does he think he's running for?? Seriously.......

i8acobra cleared it up. "not made IN Japan or South Korea."

usually when it becomes an american production, things start going wrong. ford had tons of problems. my family's friends bought an alabama made 2006 Sonata, their first hyundai ever (10 years ago you would never ever think they'd go H) and the sonata had unheard of engine problems right from the dealer. they got fed up with it, the dealer even told them they'd exhange it for free but the owners decided to just return it for good.

They don't own the land. They have leases from the Fed's.

Many American cars are made within 50 miles of where I live here in Canada...we have a Chrysler/Dodge plant (where all the challengers, chargers, and 300s come from), a Ford/Lincoln plant (former home of the Freestar, now home of the MXZ/Fusion) and 2 GM plants (1 engine plant and 1 assembly). So when you're buying domestic, you're really buying Canadian wink1.gif Think about all the gas it takes to import these domestics. lol

To me it doesn't matter that hyundai makes a couple cars in america even if those cars would have incentives. (where's the tib made at?? nana.gif ) I just generally don't like government involvement in the marketplace. Why should the government give an advantage to certain companies at the expense of others? Either all fuel efficient vehicles should have an incentive or none of them. Hence why I thought the bailout sucked. Either across the board or none at all.

I just thought it was a silly statement generally trying to get support from the American union voters.

edit: btw, what tibbychick said reminded me of my dad's ford crown vic, it's made in canada. Always thought that was a little weird.

this is true, my dad's company owns several leases on land for gas production. Typically purchased actually from individuals that own the land but in the case of ocean water's that probably is the government. They don't technically own the land/water, just the right to extract the natural resources from underneath. If you own a house you probably only own a few ft. deep then some gas/coal company owns the rights. However if they don't perform their duty as the lease describes (developement or exploration) then the owner can take the lease back (usually a clause in the lease, I think there is a law here in ky of 15 or 20 years of no progress) and resell it to another company that will produce for them.
