While I do support their effort in stopping illegal street racing, I would like to call bull_sch on this

UNSAFE MODIFICATIONS[/b] 1. Use of nitrous oxide

THE IMPACT IT HAS ON YOU Nitrous oxide is a highly combustible gas. If a vehicle carrying Nitrous is involved in a motor vehicle accident it could cause an explosion resulting in serious injury or death.
I'd like to see an offical tally as to how many accidents they had where a nitous oxide bottle exploded. bull_sch
They've watched TF&TF too many times.

it seems like a good organization with some good goals. i particularly liked the one about fostering relationships between law enforcement and pefermance enthusiasts. if they can somehow make street racers not hate them for prohibiting street racing and understand why they are prohibiting it, that's a good thing.

If more city or county governments would create
accessable drag strips they would be used.

3. Non-approved after market products

- Aftermarket products that are not approved for road use can lead to serious accidents. There are specific reasons why safety standards are implemented for parts which are used on public roads
usually depends on what it is...most aftermarket products i've seen are safer than a few stock products i've seen, like the taillights on the new nissan altima. you CANNOT see them light up well from the side, so if u and an altima are approaching an intersection at a 90 degree angle, u have a harder time telling whether or not he's braking, u have to judge by his speed. it's pretty bad. but i can some other things, like big, bulky wings that block the view in your rear-view mirror.

4. Oversized rims and tires

-Oversized rims are extremely attractive, but sometimes can be installed incorrectly. Proper installation will avoid the rim from dismounting while the vehicle is in motion. Depending on the size of the rim, clearance levels must be within exact tolerances in order to avoid contact between the tires and the body of the vehicle
thank you, mr. obvious. rolleyes.gif most things, when not installed properly, don't work right.

6. Catalytic converters

-This common modification results in severe environmental issues. When the catalytic converter is removed, it increases a vehicles horsepower. However, it is a major contributor to the green house effect which in turn affects the air we breathe
is this accurate? not the part that it increases fumes, but taht it contributes that much to the greenhouse effect? i remember seeing a study that showed that a very little percentage of greenhouse gases come from machinery and all that kind of technology, but the large percentage of it is actually methane "biologically" created by farm animals. so wouldn't the real culprit here be vegetarians?

I think the greater danger than explosion is the bottle leaking and the driver passing out. I used to pick up helium tanks in a van, and the guys at the gas place told me to drive with the windows down all the time, even in the winter.

Still my firefighters friends say N20 is a hazard and want it outlawed completely.
