I like taking pictures. My favorite subject is flowers because of the high level of detail, and they don't move. They're patient while I mess with the settings. I'm by no means a good photographer, but I just get amazed at the level of detail this Canon Rebel XTi produces!! I took a picture while walking through a botanical garden in St. Louis, and when I put it on the computer I could see the pollen on the tip of the stamen, and I could tell which had already been pollinated. I blew it up as a 20x30 and it's on my wall now. I just pointed and shot, didn't mess with the settings (probably had it on the wrong pre-set even).
anyways, I sent my wife tulips at work last week and she brought them home. They were huge blooms and were almost to the point of falling off. I was preparing for family pictures tomorrow, and decided to take a few pics of the flowers. In this pic, I could see the nectar on the stamen. I just can't believe the level of quality this camera has, with such a beginner as a photographer (does anything come before beginner? cuz that's what I am).
Exposure 1/60
ISO 100
f-stop 5.6
zoom 55mm
shooting JPeg, not RAW
pics below are of original (uncropped, resized from 3888x2592 to 1000x667) and the zoom and cropped version.
The cropped is still at 100%.

Love it man. Im hoping to pick up a DSLR camera near Christmas. I have always loved playing with the settings even on my basic 6MP. I just love the detail these cameras can produce and the quality is amazing. I like my little camera for basic stuff but would love a nice one for the photos I really want to keep. Nice work, keep em coming!

Nice pics!
I looked into getting one. But I picked up a PowerShot SX10 IS. It allows you to do just the auto point and shoot, but also gives the manual capability. Its about $400. The main thing I like about it is that the screen actually pivots similar to a camcorder. So when I'm at car shows/concerts/crowded areas, I can hold the camera up, tilt the screen, and see exactly what I'm shooting.
Anyone who wants to jump into photography, but isn't sure and doesn't want to spend a TON of cash should pick one of these up.
I've spent a few nights over the past couple weeks out taking some really cool night shots of different buildings and signs. I'll have to upload them sometime.

the rebel xti is the best on the market.

I was given a Nikon, then traded it in for the Canon. I liked it better. Although, I'm not a professional and the features/settings/abilities of Nikon may be far superior.
I also like the Canon's display screen, its sensor knows when you put it up to your face to take a picture, and the screen goes dark (not blinding you while you take a picture)

A lot of hard core photographers swear by Nikon though. I was given a Nikon, then traded it in for the Canon. I liked it better. Although, I'm not a professional and the features/settings/abilities of Nikon may be far superior.

Nice pics!!! XTi is next on my list, then my XT would be my backup. Canon and Nikon are so similar it really doesn't matter. I started with Canon and don't see any reason to switch.
