Its still around $2.50-2.80 a pound, which is quite a lot considering the price of what copper used to be a long time ago. I help my dad out from time to time at his recycling center, we bought about 1400 pounds of unstripped copper wire a day or two before I headed to college, was aggrivated that I wasn't there to help clean it up and ship it off to sell.

its still over 30% cheaper then it was a year ago, if they were gonna do this, it allready would have happened i think.

last year copper hit a all time high, hence why any house built in the last year probably doesnt have copper plumbing in it. plumbers swapped over to cpvc and pex tubing just cause its so much cheaper. i work at a supply house, and we dont move shit for copper anymore, but the prices have been coming down quite quickly, so people are starting to use it again finally.

Ye, IIRC it was like $3.40ish a pound at one point.

it is also illegal to willfully destroy US Currency.

That said, If I was to build a house (hopefully in a couple of years) I would use copper no matter how expensive. PVC and the like tends to burn in a rather toxic way. It also gets brittle with age and coldness

Ok, did a little searching around and talked to a few people I know, evidently copper should continue to rise strong.

Stocks to look at: FCX, and WIRE
