OUCH!! PAVEMENT HURTS!!!!!!!!
Man I lost control of my bike yesterday! I was making a right hand turn and I hit some sand in the road the back tire locked up on me.
The handle bars went to the left and when the front tire dug in me and the bike went to the ground! I flew about 8 to 10 feet and hit the pavement!! OUCH,DOLT,SHHEETTT THAT HURTS!!!
My leather jacket saved my right arm. But the left arm if farked up. The sleeve road up and I tore up my elbow pretty bad!! The rest are just scarpes and bruises!! BUTT man am I sore today!!
Now to the important stuff The bike!
Shes a yamaha yzf 600 R6 2001 model!
Tore off the front blinker and mainly just scrapped up the body work!! LUCKY !!! I guess!!!
Well I just wanted to share this unhappy experience with everybody. AND if you own a bike PLEASE be careful out there Take every precausion!!! Ride safely AND WEAR THE APROPRIATE GEAR!! If I had had a real riding jacket on with armour in it I would have walked away with just scarpes on my hands!!
Just a word to the wise!!!!! sad.gif eek.gif wink.gif

Just another word to those who want to ride.
If you see gravel or sand on the road slow down and be carefull. Remember that a motorcycle has a contact patch of less than one tire on our cars!!!
Accent 1, you should go and buy a Mez1 for your front tire and a Mez2 for your back tire. I had this set up on my 93 CBR600F2 and that bike would go through the corners as hard as I dared. Just so you know, my friends that rode with me thought I was crazy for going through corners as fast as I did. A couple of guys had near wipe outs trying to keep up with me on a stretch of road widely known as the "cheese grater". We have lost a few fellow bikers on this piece of road.
Even with these tires, (Mez1 is a full out race radial. Mez2 is said to be a racing endurance tire) I still had the bike get skitery on me.
Word to the masses: RIDE SMART!!!
Anyways, glad to hear your ok. Hope you have good luck with the insurance. Here they try to patch panels instead of replacing.

Always wear a leather or Balistic Nylon/kevlar jacket WITH ARMOR.
I see so many dudes riding in Cali wearing sandals, shorts, T-Shirt and a helmet (required by law). Those guys are going to be hurting units if they fall.
I would rather be a little hot, and a lot more safe than "look cool". I know too many motorcyling friends with scars from going down. I'm one of the few, one of the PROUD, who has never taken my bike(s) down. Because I ride smart, and safe.
When Conditions warrant it, I can keep up with my friend on his CBR F3 through the twisties...but I'm not going to do those kind of speeds on city streets, in sandals, t-shirt and shorts!
You should take a Motorcycle Safty Foundation (MSF) beginner rider course. Even if you know how to ride. TAKE IT. Most insurance companies will give you 10 to 15% off your rates just for this course. Then, after a year or two, take the "intermediate rider" course...good brush up on riding skills and good for another 10% off Insurance. They also have an "Advanced Rider" course. Take that after 5 years.
Lastly...get "Proficient Motorcycling" by David Hough available at www.whitehorsepress.com. I cannot reccomend this book enough, even to those who have been riding for 20+ years. GET IT, READ IT!
If you want more...get "Motorcycling Excellence: Skills, Knowledge, and Strategies for Riding Right" by The Motorcycle Safety Foundation. After reading this book, I promise you will want to sign up for one of their courses....

I'm glad you are okay, and that your bike is basically okay. That is what is utimately important.
