Anyone involved in any of the protests around the country? Its getting out of control here in the big apple. Cops are beating up protesters, pepper spraying them, arresting tons of people left and right. The protesters rioted a couple of times. Craziness.

Nothing can change or sway the political governing system here where capitalism > government. It has been specifically designed and modified not to accept change. The government/police have abused the First Amendment left and right for decades now and without that nothing can be done. When people's fundamental rights are taken away overtime, it's hopeless.

They will cuff protesters by the dozens, indict them, and the government and police receive court costs in return. It'll be winter in a month or two and everybody will go home.

Power to them though. I have hope that they can change something (if not everything) without anyone being killed.

They will go home when either the anticipated cold weather this winter chases them off, or the people paying them to stay and "protest" get tired of paying them. They will be arrested as they break laws. Power to the People . . . you know, the REAL 99%, the ones that have jobs they are paid to do, instead of being smelly bums cluttering up downtown with no discernible purpose aside from distracting the gullible.

Once again, it pays to remember . . .

The problem is not the bums who don't work, it's people that can't GET work. These people are >30 and living on the shoulders of their relatives, or minimum wage. You've mistaken smelly bums for honorable students that graduate from 4-6 year (MS) State Universities are $60,000 in debt (from rising tuition costs and furloughs because every year each state cannot come up with the budget!), they can't get jobs, or working at McDonalds. Let's not forget about the 99% workaholics that are getting laid off! This is America, the greatest nation in the world not some developing post-war country.

And that's only one issue. What about eliminating the middle class? Increasing taxes while lowering wages? Increased medicare/medicaid expenses. Elders cannot afford healthcare coverage, so who's going to take care of you when you get sick? It's unfair and people are fed up.

I really don't know anything about politics so I may be entirely wrongside up or misinformed.
It pays to remember that I don't want to know about politics because I'm not interested in what a politician thinks because every four years it'll be turned upside down anyways, but I do pay attention to business and I do know about the health of our economy because that does not change every 4 years.

I agree with some of the sentiments being raised by the movement. I don't think the protests will actually achieve anything though, their goals and demands are far too vague unfortunately.

Its true though, the general populace is getting whipped quite badly.

The general populace is getting whipped because of too much government, not "corporate greed"

If you graduate with a $60,000 loan debt and a useless degree, you fail at life

The middle class is being squashed because of left-wing fiscal policy instituted by people that don't know what they should be doing, appointed by clowns, going back a good decade or three.

lol the United States of America isn't Lord of the Flies! so Greece, Italy (just got its credit rating downgraded) and Spain (went bankrupt) also have too much government?--i don't think so. the recession was started by banks hyper-inflating interest rates and making profit off of it. banks will always be more powerful than the government ever can ever be.

If you graduate with a $60,000 loan debt and a useless degree, you fail at life

that simply can't be correct because these useless degrees have been offered by the State, are approved by the State, and have worked for many decades. frankly, you don't even need a good degree to get a good job, up until now you only needed a 4-year state-accredited degree or some experience. if things were the way you've outlined here, then then these useless degrees would have to have been newly established simultaneously at every university at every state, which didn't just happen overnight to cause people not to get jobs.

once again people end up with $60,000 because tuition skyrocketed because the State simply cannot come up with necessary funds to function, therefore they raise it. the people that haven't paid them off are the ones that aren't Doctors performing open-heart surgery. it's unrealistic to expect every taxpayer to know open-heart surgery (although it would be nice).

I'm open to this suggestion however I would like to point out that Leftism is social welfare, this is more like something smells fishy. The government suddenly takes billions of dollars of taxpayer money and gives it to banks and corporations in one lump sum, and then blames them for causing it even though they bailed them out? That's not leftism, that is government clowns covering up a foul odor.

As education slowly reaches more of thep populace, and standards rise, degrees have become less of a guarantee than they were say 40 years ago. I think its just a case of supply and demand, its not like the standards to get a degree have suddenly dropped.

It is a little disconcerting to see congress debating at the final hour whether keynesian theory is correct; they've come this far whilst being unsure about it?
