I just felt an aftershock about an hour ago. This is a wake-up call for cities around here, although it will be TOTAL chaos if s___ hits the fan (magnitude 8+), especially during business hours. This one was a 5.8 and the rail system was clogged, roads clogged, airports grounded...
Just a few years ago we had a small quake from the north, but scientists claimed that was nothing to worry about and this area doesn't experience earthquakes. That's why DC and NYC were dumbstruck. It's certainly something new for all of us.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the aftershocks around the central Virginia epicenter had ranged in magnitude from 4.2 to as little as 2.2 since the strongest earthquake to strike the East Coast since World War II. Another hit early Thursday with a magnitude 4.5 and 3.1 miles deep.
