For some reason people always think subs stay down for 6 months at a time. Not true!! 2 types of subs:

(1)Fast Attack
(2)Boomer/Trident

The Boomers stay out for 3 months at a time.Their job is to simply punch holes in the water for 3 months and wait for the President to give them orders to launch ICBM's

Fast attacks, like I was on,have no set schedule. We go out for days to weeks, sometimes a month or 2.The longest I was ever down was 2 months. That only happened once.It was cool though, cuse we pulled into Guam after that and partied our freak'n asses off!!

I think this 6 month thing has to do with when ships go on deployment.Every 2 years you leave home port for 6 months and go visit other countries.Well, there are other things envolved other then visiting places, but it's all good. You're not on the ship for the entire time.Unless of course you are on station in the Gulf or somewhere.

Another thing about subs............I am 6'1 never had a problem.Well, okay, sometimes I'd knock my head on a freaking battle latern. But I learned pretty quick where to duck alittle. There was one dude on my boat that was 6'6!!! I felt sorry for him.He always walked hunched over a bit.

LOL!!!!!! I can't tell you the max depth, but it isn't quite like that.Plus you barely even know you are under water unless you look at a depth gauge.

Ok, I guess I should throw some change in the pot too... Ive been in the Air Force for 3 years now... Im still quite the rookie as that goes! My job is a 2W151 (Aircraft Armament Specialist) Souds special, but I load bombs missiles and rockets oh my! heh I keep seeing people say join the Air Force to fly jets... if you dont have a college degree... you dont fly the jets, youll be working on them, loading them, or riding in them... sadly...
My job has no civillian equal (unless I load baggage on a commercial airliner...) so I wasnt thinking about the future, bad move for me I know, so I WILL be cross training into something that I can use on the "outside"!
ok ok thats me... as for you...
Army and Marines= grunts- playing the the fields with the fun and excitement of being shot at and not really knowing whats to come.
Navy= surounded by water most of the year or not being in one place for very long- lots of "hanging with the guys" heh heh
Air Force= more corperate style and better quality of life, unless you are in the special forces though, its a lot of behind the scenes/lines work... no action in other words.
Its all about the life you want to have... tents and sleeping bags, tight cubby-holes, or college dorms.
Either way, its all up to you.... best luck with it though mang, however you choose to go!!

Gunners mate? It is useless when you get out the service. At least I could get a job with the phone company any aeuronatical company, With only 2 years of college I should have my BA since all my schools are college credits. What college will give you credits for know how to be a GM? Pick something will be useful in life not a walk in the park.

you should join the Navy Seals... then you can learn cool shit... like how to kill someone with a shoestring... if i were to join the Armed Forces the ONLY thing i would go for would be fighter pilot... then i would be like "HIGHWAY TO THE DANGER ZONE, BIATCH" im maverick b****.... course it would be the Canadian air force so i would probably make it to the end of the runway and break down...
