Well guys, i have recently been laid off 3 times since april 2006, so its probably time to move out of this shithole, aka Michigan. As some of you may know Michigan ranks 50 in jobs over the USA. Basically, with a family on the way, i need to get the hell out of here..

I have had some input from others on the boards, and looked up statistics in unemployment rates nationwide, but it would be better to ask people on here, if they may know of anything.

I am looking for a CAD operator position, hopefully in the field of civil engineering or land surveying. thats where i have my experience in. I also can do ANYTHING related to AutoCAD, and have some experience in Mechanical Drafting. I have tons of experience with the following: Autodesk Land Development Desktop, Autodesk Mechanical Desktop, AutoCAD r14, LT98, 2004,2005,2006, and 2007; Microsoft Office 2003, and XP, Microsoft Windows XP networking.

I am just to the point of begging for others help, cuz i have looked all over and got the past two jobs looking for a future in them, and have been screwed over, from this shatty economy.

Im not asking for anyone to go out of their way, but if you know anyone, or hear of anything in the CAD field particularily, please let me know.

Have you ever looked into getting a job with a government contractor? We have several civilians in my squadron doing metals tech jobs as well as others. I am sure there is a job for CAD. One of the big contractors right now is L3 Communications, look them up. From what I hear they pay well.

Dude, move here to Huntsville!! There's no end of needs for engineers, particularly in CAD!
Look up Northrop Grumman and SAIC, there's a bunch of positions open. But seriously, Huntisville is the engineer's home!

Depends on how far you want to travel.

I am currently in Reno, Nevada working with an Engineering firm but I know two others that like people with AutoCADD experiance and if your more into the bigger cities I know of 5 or more engineering firms in Las Vegas, Nevada that pay $$$ for good AutoCADD techs.

You just have to give me some notice and time frame and a resume and I will call people. Most of the time if I get you an interview you will have the job. The only thing is I cant grant any certain pay since every place is different.

If you consider this, I'll have a few more questions regarding your AutoCADD experiance in more detail.

I know how Michigan is with there jobs, my brother and his wife live there and it took him half a year to get a job.

He applied online with about 8 different local places last night.

I'm working with him again today.
