Hey guys. I just saved $200 switching from Geico($931 for 6 months) to USAA(military($731 for 6 months)) Insurance, but I want to lower my insurance cost even more. I know FaithoftheDragon have told me a couple of things but I want to know what more people think. Should I do $500 deductible? or $1000? Should I lower my insurance premium by decreasing the coverage(i.e. $100,000 to $25,000)??
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
I'm not sure what options you have for insurance down there...
I know we have it good in MB (I pay about 1200CAD - ~1100USD, and thats full coverage, 1 year, 200 deductable, 0 deductable on wildlife and windshield cracks - 2,000,000 third party liability, yada yada yada)
I would say get as much third party liabilty as you can afford (within reason). i wouldnt go with a $1000 deductable. thats way to much of a hit if you get into an accident. Maybe $500, but that still seems high.
then again, i dont know the difference in costs for you. Worst case scenario, move to MB and register your car here! lmao.gif

I work for Allstate and I can honestly tell you that the difference in the deductible premuim is not worth the paying a $1000 for an accident. It might save you like $220 every 6 monthes but if you get ing an accident you have to pay $500 for. Stay with the $500 ded.
Instead of going from $100,000 to $25,000 look at like $50,000, it's not going to be a big savings but now of days people are sue happy. So be on the safe side. Anymore I can help you with let me know.

1. its faithofAdragon
2. from what i was told you dont wanna end up paying more than half the vehicle is worth per year... so basically if the car is worth 3000 dont pay more than 1500 a year (a finance guy told me this so...)

Check out Drive insurrance from Progressive. I just switched and got 100/300/100, 500 deductible collision/comp on my Tib, and 100/300 liability on my truck all with unisurred coverages and special coverage for my truck so if someone hits me, my truck will be repaired or replaced, not just totaled out, all for 694 for 6 months. Thats 2 vehicles for under 700 for 6 months.
I'd say definatly keep your coverage at least 100/300/100. tibracer33 is very right. People are all sue happy anymore, and you want to make sure you are protected.
Depending on your record, age, and credit history, you my be getting the best price for now. Its still a good idea to shop though.

Can you guys take a look at this? Tell me what you think.. you think I should go lower in some cases?
The dollars represent how much I'm paying for insurance on that coverage, the numbers without the dollar sign means how much I'm covered. I changed a couple like instead of 100,000/300,000, I changed to 100,000/200,000 to lessen the cost. I also lowered the Rental reimbursement to the minimum and instead of broadened collision coverage, i put standard collision coverage. 500 is the deductible.
Bodily Injury 100,000/200,000
Limit per person/per accident $48.01
Property Damage 50,000
Limit per accident $13.67
Uninsured Motorists Bodily Injury 100,000/200,000
Limit per person/per accident $4.68
Underinsured Motorists Bodily Injury 100,000/200,000
Limit per person/per accident $7.02
Personal Injury Protection 0
Deductible per accident $193.75
