Hey all,
I need advice quickly. I came out of work and saw that my car was sideswiped. my insurance deductible that the repairs would probably be all out of pocket. My question is do i put signs up in my apartment building and at work asking for information or do i go covert and start examining every car and go all old school?

I parked my car Sunday afternoon and today was the first day i drove it since then. it looks to be a light color car as the marks are light (White). I examined every car when i got home and saw no marks so.

im wiggin out... hell we had a delivery boy today at work and im half tempted to call the restaurant and ask what color car the delivery person drives...

I guess I just wanted to rant but any ideas would be nice...

I'd do some detective work first, then put some signs up. Think of whatever you can that happened that day, and yes I'd call the pizza place and ask. Will it get you anywhere? Maybe not, the person will probably deny it and you probably won't be able to prove it was them. But if you do find them, let me know I know of some really good revenge tactics.

Go stalker.

If you can catch the person, call the cops and tell them it was a hit and run, but do NOT tell the other person, let the cops do that. When the cops confront the person, they will be so surprised and scared, that they will almost certainly admit to it. At this point you can decide to not press charges and instead just call it a "fender bender," or you can keep the "hit and run" charge. Either way, you get them to admit to it, you get a nice check from your insurance company.

This EXACT thing happened to me about 2 months ago..
We had a party at my house, lots of people were there, but mostly people that I knew. Someone sideswiped my car. In the morning when I woke up I totally freaked out. I called the cops and reported it, an officer came and took pictures and such, and then I started thinking about all the people who were there that I didn't know. Came up with a list, and did some investigating. Ended up finding the person who I thought it was on Facebook, got their address/phone number, and called the cops. An officer went to their door at 8am and woke them up and accused them of hitting my car, they most certainly COULD have denied it, beause the amount of damage done to their car was negligible, you actually couldn't even tell. Basically the cops scared them into the truth, when they could have gotten away with it. I told the officer I no longer wanted to charge them with hit and run, and that he could leave and we would leave it up to the insurance companies now. We exchanged insurance information...blah blah. A few days later an adjuster from her insurance company came to look at my car, and I walked away with a $1500 check.

I would NOT put signs up, because then someone knows that you're on to them. You have to try to catch them, if they were smart they would already be trying to cover up any damage done to their car that could trace them to the accident.

Definitely report it, and definitely try find out who it was and catch them. People are such assholes.

I will call the local police department tomorrow at work, file a report then do some 'sniffing' around. Im going to call the pizza place tomorrow or i may bite the bullet and order from them and check out the delivery vehicle myself. Donno how im going to handle that one.

this is all i have done so far....
come out of work and see my car was hit, not car in either space on both side. Notice that my car has been hit and walk back inside to see if another person leaving the same time as me saw any cars. He looked at it and then left and i drove home and inspected other cars in the apartment complex. took a rag and looked to se how much was dirt and how much was scratched.

any other ideas would be nice....

If anyone has any ideas on how to repair a scratched bumper, let me know.
