Ok so selina had an inspiron 600m that had some constant problems and she decided to ditch it for a nice toshiba. She had thought about throwing it away since it had kept needing repairs but i figured i could fix it and use it.

After some research we decided that the problem was just that it needed a new hard drive and the people who had been repairing it just kept trying to fix the bad hard drive, and it would just break again in less than a month.

So i got a new hard drive and a network adapter, and viola, it works like a charm.

but i have one problem, sound no worky.

I go to play something on say yahoo music jukebox or windows media player it says no audio hardware is available or the hardware is not responding.

if i go to control panel/sounds and audio devices and it says "no audio devices"

Ive researched all over the internet and i've tried countless remedies, and they all didnt help, but if anybody has any ideas id be glad to try something else, and if somebody mentions something i tried already ill try it again...

kinda sux without musica

What OS have you got on there?

Since its a new HDD, you reinstalled the windows and now your audio device has no drivers and computer doesnt recognise it. Have a look online for the specs of the computer, like what sound card it has in there..If it has an integrated one look up the motherdboard manufaturer and go to google type in the name and add "sound driver" it should come up, download, install and it should work wink1.gif

You need sound drivers. Post your model and I or someone else will post a link to the drivers. It's on the bottom of the laptop.

Is that your satellite again? man you always have trouble with that fuxor... Or was the HD the problem in the first place?

Don't bother with the looking up the mother board manufacturer. Type your model number if you search yourself. And always use manufacturer's recommended drivers or you might end up with something you think is a driver but actually uses your computer to post kiddy porn all over the internet..

Yeah she did. she had a virus and a really slow internet connection.

http://ftp.us.dell.com/audio/R90698.EXE

That's the download site

Your sound car's model number is: SIGMATEL STAC 9750AC97

but any AC'97 driver should work.

This is the location for all of your drivers. You really should go on there and put in your service code. It should be able to narrow it down more for your display driver as well. It will make your video work better.

^No, your okay babe nothing has been wrong lol tongue.gif

But DTN, I think your confused. Nothing has been wrong with my Satellite at all..it was the laptop that Alex has now that had all the HD problems.

When a Dell guy replaced the hard drive and motherboard on my laptop, I was left with no sound. Next time I had it repaired I had them fix it up. The problem? He forgot to plug them in... Possibly?
