Im trying to install halflife 2. it gets to the point where it says "Setup has detected you have Direct X version 9.0b or greater installed on your machine and will not attempt to update it" I click next and nothing happens.

 

do you have dx 9? if i remember correctly when i installed there where several pauses where nothing was up for like 30 seconds or sooo. if you have broadband (nevermind you do) you could always just install steam pop in the cd key and let it download. laugh.gif:

 

Make sure your connected online while your installing it, theres tons of stuff that gets uploaded during the install and steam, check in task manager if anything new pops up during the install.

 

ya, just download it from steam. that's what i ended up having to do anyways. sucked ass too since i have 56k

 

I was actualy suprised that on a 56k it took only about 30 minuts, entire instalations not realy that long though for such a huge game. So did u get it working yet dude?

 

I think he meant he downloaded the whole thing, like all 1.5 gb of it. not just re reg. part.
