Okay, my Canon Powershot A520 is finally on it's last legs, it's a 4MP camera, decent pics, decent settings, but the lens covers aren't snapping all the way open anymore.
My wife bought me a 10MP Polaroid for my birthday but we are returning it. Decent pics, but the microphone is broken on it and there is no video output to connect a cable to the TV to review pics and videos.
I'm looking for a 9 to 10MP camera, with a wrist strap, ability for a better lens, video/audio recording, and an output for a cable to connect to your TV.
I will not buy Sony.
Any suggestions? Links?

If you like the PowerShot line, check out the PowerShot SX10. NOT the SX110 though.
There are so many features on this thing. It lets you do everything that a manual camera would do, as well as full auto, and some really crazy colour changing options. Its definitely worth the money. The pivoting screen is great. I love it for when I have the camera down low on a tripod, I can turn the screen and look down on in it, instead of crouching down. I was originally looking at the new XSi, but the SX10 was more in my budget range, and to be quite honest, I'm VERY happy with it.
Picked it up from BestBuy in Florida for $399 (can't find them in Canada), but I'm sure you can find a better deal now that its closer to Christmas

Here's a few shots I've taken. I'm a complete amateur, and have only had this since mid-November....

ditto on the Powershot. I love Cannon. You should also look into Olympus. My Canon is great, and with a lot of tinkinering, it really does give a phenomenal shot. BUT, big But here, I still believe that my little 3.2 megapixel Olympus does better point and shoot shots than my Canon 6.2MP. So, moral of the story is, yes, the Canon WILL give you the better shots IF you are willing to work with it. The Olympus will give amazing shots at half the work IMO. I own a Canon, but my next camera will probably be back to Olympus.

Wow, those are great night shots!!! Did you have to change any settings to do that or was it dummy proof and did it all automatically?
I'm looking for something to get great night shots, including night videos.

Thats using the manual mode, but seriously, its dummy proof. You turn the wheel to adjust the aperture setting, then press one button, then turn the wheel to adjust the exposure time. The digital light meter is on the right hand side, press the button half way, wait for the auto focus, then press the button down, and wait for it to do its thing. It even shows you on the screen what the picture will look like based on the settings you selected.
Any idiot can operate this camera....I took the night shots before I even realised that bar on the right was the light meter.....so yeah, its dummy proof. lmao.gif
Videos are good, but they aren't the greatest. I guess you could say that they're above average compared to any other camera on the market, but I wouldn't say they're the best either. I have a couple videos, on is at night. I'll see if I can upload one... Its great at picking up sound though. The 2 mics are located above the lens and below the flash. Theres a left and a right, and the range on them is pretty good.
I'm probably going to pick up a decent video camera as well.

Nikon, Canon or Olympus. I just bought a PowerShot SD1100IS 2 weeks ago. I got my mom an Olympus FE-340 last week. Only drawback to the Olympus is that it uses XD cards instead of SD cards. I shot this vid with my new Canon:

I'm seriously thinking about picking up this Canon Powershot SX110 IS.
I've seen it in several places this week, and it's a REALLY nice camera. 9MP, 10X optical zoom, LP Movie (extended movie mode), facial tracking, and more.
Anyways, $249 at Target, $229 a couple of other places, and $199 at Office Depot I think.
What do you guys think?
