I was handing out candy and I noticed a lot of unusual things.



For one, none of the houses in the neighborhood had any decorations. Not one.



Secondly, very very few of the trick-or-treaters even said "Trick-or-treat". Most of them just walked up to me and opened their bags.



Thirdly, there was a surprisingly low rate of trick-or-treaters. By the time the last one had come by, the candy I was giving out wasn't even half gone.



Lastly, everyone had called it quits by 8:00. Houses had gone dark only a mere hour after trick-or-treating had started.



Overall, very boring Halloween in the neighborhood I was in.



Is this an isolated thing or is Halloween really going downhill?

I had 4 trick or treaters all night. It was cold and rainy here, so that may have been a big issue. But there were no houses on my street either that were decorated.

Trick or treating is very popular in my neighborhood. The streets were filled with kids and there's even a popular "haunted house" that someone builds in their driveway. However, decorations get stolen very frequently, so these vandals are making it hard to celebrate any holiday outside the house.

My road sits between two major commercial streets on the way to I-10. Two lights on my road compared to a light on every block. Sooo... people come screaming down my 30mph road at 60mph. No kids doing the trick or treating here because dumb. I did see a cop make their quota + that night.

I handed out candy. One group of 2 kids came to my door. I live in the suburbs, seems like more kids would have stumbled by.
