I dunno how much $$$ they have spent, or how it compares to the other teams.
I would assume a "new" team would have to spend more for the first 5 years than "established" teams do. They've got to buy more equipment, do more testing, prototype more parts, etc..etc.. than the "established" teams do.
Let's face it, at ANY level of professional motorsports, you shouldn't expect to be competitive in your first year, and you SHOULD expect to spend more money than the other teams just to try to reach close to their level.
