Default My Dilemma: What car to get for under 20k?

Ok...Ive decided to sell my 2001 Tiburon but the problem is I cant decide on what friggin car I want after I do the trade-in! I absolutely cannot go higher than $20,000 and so far Ive been considering a 97-99 Eclipse GSX, and recently just fell in love with the new VW GTI 1.8Turbo after riding in one...but I CANT DECIDE! what would you guys get in my position?!

You probably can't get the gti for under 20K, or if you do it will be very close.

I would say Suzuki Aerio, Nissan Sentra, Toyota Corolla S, or an Elantra GT.

I'm not too hip on the new Tiburons style, but you can get one for under 20K in the inline 4 engine easy.

Fortanately I have a connection with a local VW dealership which could play to my advantage..I was so huge on the Eclipse GSX until I heard about the whole crankwalking @70k mi. and all the other problems with them..so basically im leaning toward the 1.8T, but i wanna hear some more opinions..

are you going to modify it, or leave it stock?

If you are going to leave it stock, the GSX is a fine choice.

If you want to modify it, go with the GTI 1.8T.

Or get a used RX7 TT. They often go for under $20K 1993 MAZDA RX7, slvr/grey, turbo, snrf, 5 spd, Bose system, CD, lo miles, $16,995 found on www.recycler.com

Used supra's are damn hard to find in 6 speed TT for under 20K, but if you look, you just might find one.
1994 Toyota Supra TT Twin Turbo 6spd,targa,blitzbdykit,hksblwoffvalve,18in rims,70k,Lexus ISblue, blitz exhaust, salvaged, super clean, shaved doors, serious buyers only the title is salvaged due to previous owner bottom out oil pan and front suspension, everything fixed and super clean, email me for pictures, dpham@mrcopy or ocprelude117@hotmail.com

Yes...I definately plan on heavily modifying it. Ive looked for both Supras and Rx-7s but none around here are anywhere near 20 G's. I was also considering getting an RSX (Not the type S). They start @ 160hp and are pretty nice, but they're popping up like civics all over the place whereas the 1.8 is a bit more rare...especially modded out ones..around here anyway..but thanks for the input Random..

I gotta throw the $.02 at the VW. You can hook up the K04 turbo upgrade, along with all kinds of other goodies from Neuspeed.

Yeah a friend of mine in the VW/BMW community mentioned the K04. I think he mentioned that this turbo is the one used on the stock Audi S4 although I may be thinking of something else. I really like the 1.8T because the car looks super clean exterior wise when done correctly and once the hood is popped this car absolutely screams OOOO

Get the VW, a friend off mine has an 01 Jetta Wolfsburg Edition 1.8T, and just reprogramming the chip gets you a LOT of extra HP, check http://www.autothority.com/ecu.htm for that... then try www.vwvortex.com for other VW tuning needs... I personally like the Jetta better but Im guessing the GTI is a little lighter so that would be good... good luck
