As the mods know, I was up in Boston Wedneday through friday... and wow was it an adventure!

The long sordrid story actually started on tuesday, when I dropped my car off to have a front wheel bearing taken care of while I was working. Thank goodness I had brought my bicycle to get back to work, because they did not get to my car till after lunch and then did not have time to finish it before 5.. so I wound up riding my bike home 20 miles..

Picked the car up wednesday.. the guy I was working with did not get in from Pittsburg PA until almost 4pm.. so we did not get on the road till after 5. On the way up, we hit major construction in EVERY state we drove through. New Jersey, New York, Conn, and Mass.

Half way through Conn, the Turbo on the Turbo-Diesel truck I was driving (14 foot Mitsu box) took a dump. The clamp that holds the compressor side of the turbo to the Turbine side fell off, leaving us with a massive exhaust leak and no boost... made driving through nothern Conn towards the Mass Pike a low gear foot to the floor experience.

Get to boston, get stuck in traffic trying to get to route 93 trying to get to BrainTree due to all the BS from the Big Dig... finally get to the Hotel at 1am and pass out...

Next morning, we are back in the wounded truck trying to find Macy's in downtown Boston. The Directions we had SUCKED and everyone I asked for help was a tourist from somewhere else.. I wound up paying a taxi driver to go to Macy's so I could follow him.

Get there, they search the truck for a bomb or some other BS before letting us under the building to unload. While the other guy is setting up, I have to find a place to park the truck.. all of the open lots in Boston waved me off when I approached.. even though I could see they had spots open.. wound up parking at the Seaport in South Boston and paying three times the going rate (for a truck that takes up a SINGLE parking space) and catching a cab back the 2 miles..

Did the Fall Fashion show, took it all down and went back to get the truck... Macy's does not own their loading dock.. Security for the building they are in closes it at 5pm and told me to come back the next morning at 8... I told them I couldn't by lying to them and saying I had to drive back down to Atlantic City tonight .. after 45 minutes of "discussion" they finally sent a guy down to unlock the rool up door.. guess I was keeping somebody from doing their job or something...

Get back to the hotel.. crash.

Next morning, I am looking over the truck and discover the clamp for the turbo is hanging from a wire on the side of the block. After retrieving it, I discover that the bolt that holds it together had pulled out of the clamp.. replacing it brought the turbo back to life...

Next was Macy's in Queens... again our directions sucked and driving a truck, you cannot use the "parkways" in New York.. so we were stuck using city streets to get where we were going. A brainfart by my friend put us on an expressway for several miles (instead of a 10th) and we had to backtrack.. got to the hotel and leave him there for his employee to catch up... I hopped on the subway for Penn Station.

Got to Penn Station, hopped a train for Philly, had to change trains in Trenton.. no big deal...

Get to Philly, catch the train to AC... the train gets to the Deleware river and stops.. the Bridge that they cross the river with was out of commission.. so after an hour, they took us back to the station and stuck us on a bus to take us across the river to a local station to catch the train there...

Get to Egg Harbor City at midnight.. I tried calling my Girlfriend to get a ride to my car (5 miles away at my Friend's business) but she is passed out and never answered the phone... so after a long way carrying my backpack full of video gear and a duffle full of clothes, I get to my car and then finally make it home..

all to avoid taking a bus from NYC.... 13 hours of travel.

I also had my own business to attend to at 7:30 the next morning... got done last night at 1am.. and now I am off again... I think I might be exhausted.

I also hate boston.
