i'm biased to the marine corp only because my dad was in it for 26 years (e9 homie!) and i grew up playing sports and hanging out with him on base (quantico is awesome)

but between army and airforce, i'd choose airforce...

and if you can go officer do it.. more money, more people under you...and it's just baller to say your an officer.

I am bias USMC. ITs not about the job its the way of life. I been in for 12 years. Seen lots of crap and good things. If you want a good job and lots of training go Air Force. If your going to have a degree don't even waste your time going enlisted go Officer. But even if you went enlisted after college few years down the road you can apply to certain programs to become an officer. Troops have much more respect for an officer if he was prior enlisted. The Army also has alot of different jobs as well. Trust me don't go Navy unless you like boats ALOT. I been on float twice I freaking hate it.
The title says it all if you are called a Marine instead of soldier or airman or sailor.

P.S. Did I mention on bias on services.smile.gif

So I talked with my Navy recruiter...
When answering my questions he brings up State 21 something rather...

Basically, I would enlist and go to 9 week boot camp. After camp I could send in a package for State 21....which is a program that allows enlisted men to go to college of their choice (from a list of course) and get their 4 year degree, then return to Navy as officer and serve 4 years...

I've got good grades and all, and I'm thinking this is a sweet deal. If I were to get accepted into State 21 program I'd choose Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona and get BS in Aeronautical Science (proffesional pilot). The recruiter said State 21 is good for up to three years (but you need four years to get a four year degree). This shouldn't be a problem for me because I already have an AA degree (or will in June) and that should knock off a year of classes for my Bachelors.
My dream would be to finish Bachelors at Embry Riddle (maybe go onto Masters if the Navy allows for continuation) and fly for the Navy. Then if I don't like the Navy after four years, leave after term is up and maybe get into commercial airline or something rather.

Any one in the military here go though State 21....and get their degree and become an officer? How was your experience? Did you get the job you wanted after you earned your degree? How long did you serve as enlisted man before starting college classes. What do you guys think?

most likely its called something different between each branch. I applied for it but didnt get accepted so i went the reserve route. It is a pretty sweet deal if you ask me. Good luck with it!

don't listen to the recruters. they will flat out lie to you!!!!!!! you need to check out the programs first hand. Becaue i know in the air force if you apply for a program like that you have to serve double time. MEANING 4=8. so you might want to do some google on the before you sign anything!!!! The AF has those programs too. I do believe that you have to be 2 years away from my BS to apply. Either way in the af you have 100% tuition paid. pluse the GI bill if you choose to take it and then later use it. But the point being you better do research before you sign any paper work. on a side note your not actually comitted till you raised you hand a meps!!!

The Navy was the best thing I have done in my whole life. Sure you meet alot of strange people(or is that enlisted people in all branches?) But they will take care of you. I am engineer(probably one of the most stressful and phucked up job in the Navy) but I love it alot. I don't love it enough to retire in 20 years.. but enough to do 4 years and 4 years active Reserves. i got 5 months left in Active Duty.. so happy.
