Default Manual Shifter Remote Starters??? LED Underbody Kits?

I was always told this wasn't possible, but it looks like it is. This is the company I got my Racerboy thru, and I saw this on their site today...

Audio Warehouse

Anyone heard of this and if so do they work good? I'd love to be able to walk out to my car and have it running, the windows down & sunroof back, and or pop the trunk.

Also, first I've seen these in a KIT....

Varad Underbody Light Kits...

Expensive? Yes. The blue kit comes with 2 48" bars and a controller. $225 dollas. Now, remember these are LED's and will be more durable (VERY BRIGHT too, I've seen a few Varad Hyper LED's) than Neons. Awesome. I figure one of these kits, and 1 24" for the front and back. Under $350.

God I love my shift knob...

Remember me of an asian company that was making car LED products. They have something like that. Can't remember the name.

The things you can do with LEDs...

now i know that different color LEDs have different brightnesses due to spectrum/power consumptions... but of the orange LEDs that i've dealt with, i'm only moderately impressed. Orange is supposed to be duller than the rest, and consume more energy, but they all do create a circle of light. neon bulbs create more of a continuous glow. I've gotten LEDs from a warehouse for $.75 a pop, and also varads for $2.50 a pop, and the warehouse ones are suprisingly brighter. i really would like to see the underbody kit in action, but predict less than spectacular results... otherwise that kit would be more popular (it's been out for quite a while now). anyone is more than welcome to argue with me, this is only thru my own experiences... $.02

It is possible to put a remote start in manuals, BUT finding a place that will do it is another story. You have to disable the sensor that detects the clutch is pressed to the floor, and MAKE SURE YOU ARE ALWAYS IN NEUTRAL when you shut your car off!
That's why most places don't install them...they don't want to be responsible for your tranny dying or for your car jumping into a tree like the VW bug commercial.

Really? Hmm, from what I read about this kit it says it's made for Manual cars. Wonder if they figured some way around it.

Anyone else?

Remote starts for Manuals been around for a while.
Most of them will make you go through a sequence when you turn off your car, before you can start it.
The CompuStar for example is by far the simpliest of sequences.
When you are ready to turn the car off:
Stop. (DuH tongue.gif )
Put in Neutral (off the clutch)
Pull ebrake (which will then unlock your doors if you have that installed)
turn the key to off (the car will remain running)
Get out
Once you close the door they will lock, and the car will shut off, then on your remote it will give you a tone telling you that it's locked and armed
Simple!

I'm guessing the above will be a similar sequence.

Some other remote starts use lasers, installed on the shifter assembly (VERY MUCH A PITA!!!) I helped one of the guys install one, and it took us like FOREVER to line up the lasers, so when you're in Neutral, the lasers don't get cut off, letting the remote starter know the car is not in gear.

Wow KayJay, thanks!

How much does that system go for (Non laser) and how hard to install?

*5 stars!*

Anyway, Neo_Tib has the Compustar installed on his Tib, you can ask him how much he loves it!
Anyway, we can get it for $340(Cdn) plus install, I think installed it's like $500 from our dealer (but so far J@WS01 has been doing all our installs wink .) I still don't have one, cuz I'm PO! I'd like to have one, but like I say, I'm PO! sad.gif

Anyway, more info here:
http://www.compustar.org/products/2WFM.html
It's a 2way pager alarm / remote start!

I WANT,... one day smile.gif

Oh hey, what email can I reach you at?
Might need you to source out some "stuff" for me from Korea! wink

This is the alarm I just purchased (which should arrive shortly!).

Although I have an A/T it comes with instructions for installing it on a manual transmission. I got a hot deal, $190 shipped @ groupbuycenter.com

Straight from the website:
Q: How does it remote-start a standard transmission? Isn’t that dangerous?
A: No, our system is very safe. It’s a fail-proof system that assures that the car is left in neutral. When you exit the vehicle it stays running till you shut the door and arm the system. Any entries afterward require that the exiting process be repeated in order to remote start. If not, the remote-start function will not be allowed.

Kay Jay, use the same email in my profile.

Cringe, what's the brand and such of that one?

Still doesn't really tell you how it works does it?
