Frankly I was surprised the flame wasn't more . . . well, more. That was a lot closer to methanol fire than the gasoline I've lit off outside a combustion chamber.

it's weird how an engine can take that kinda beating for 10 years and 150k miles, and even much longer then that.

Not really. My deer rifle is in service since WW1. It's all what you design a machine to take.
