Im going there again in August with probably have about 10 people coming with that have never been there. I have been there 3 times but only once was when I was 21. Im looking for any info on stuff to do that isnt widely available. We will be there from Thursday through Tuesday and will be staying at (pretty sure) Treasure Island. Not sure if we will be getting a car or not but would consider it.

I plan on getting downtown (Fremont st.) on Friday or Saturday. When I went in September it was a pretty cool place to be on the weekend nights.

Want to try to hit a couple clubs, possibly do skydiving (Is there anywhere to bungee jump anymore now the Hackett closed down by Circus Circus?)

I will not be going to the Hoover Dam. I went years ago and probably wont ever try to go again or take anyone there.

I know we have at least one local on the board. Anyone else got any good ideas or hookups?

Sailplanes at the Jean airport South of Vegas. In addition to regular skydiving, there's also the less expensive indoor skydiving at Fly Away. It's on Convention Center at Las Vegas Blvd. Red rock is a good place to climb/hike. If you have a motorcycle license, Sportbike Rentals (obviously) rents sportbikes.

When I went last September it was perfect. Not to hot but nice. Im meeting with a couple friends tomorrow to figure out dates. Sportbike rental seems fun. maybe Ill look into that. Ill have my license by then.

I also want to take a trip down to Laughlin I think and check that out if we get some time.

Really?

When I went in september about 3 years ago, my wife suffered from heat exhaustion and 36 people at the racetrack had to be sent to the hospital for heat stroke.

One died.

115 degrees at 8 AM? NO THANK YOU.

Haha. Agreed there. We went on September 24th last year (my 21st) and it was 70-80 all day pretty much and just a little cooler at night. Perfect weather. Main reason for August is I need a vacation bad. Trying to look into coming down to NM also for the meet there. Well see.

In August, the "official" temp at the airport is about 110 degrees. However, on the Strip, I've seen 128 degrees on my car's outside temp gauge and have measured 160 degrees about one inch off the asphalt.
