Since I am graduating this year my mom is getting me a laptop for graduation. Now what do yall recommend for a good laptop? Price range is about $2k, I think. Mainly will be used for media, interenet and some games, but not like hardcore. Brand? Upgrades? Most reliable? Easiest to work with?
Input would be appreciated.

I sell lenovo laptops they are the people who make ibm's laptops. Really good units and they are super durable.

The dells are ok as well, but have a tendency to start falling apart about 1.5-2 years if you use it everyday. I also sell acer's and msi, etc. but my favorite are the lenovo's.

lenovo's are definetly a nice laptop, a little more expensive but a great product... I have a dell which is ok, it still works but as Supercow said they start to fall apart with frequent use. My bro has an acer and it seems like a decent machine.
any laptop your going to spend 2k on is going to exceed the needs that you want.

The parent company to my screenprinting biz is www.RedBarnComputers.com...
They sell all Built-on-Asus notebooks, which are pretty darn solid. They go by the "Quality parts make quality computers" mantra, using good, name-brand components in them. If they have any in stock, the Z84"Jp" is a killer system, but I think the "Jp" edition is on back-order right now.

Avoid Dell at all costs unless you speak fluent hindi as their customer service sucks beyond galactic comparison. I had an Acer Aspire that was a beautiful lightweight computer with CrystalBrite technology and got it for a really good price. I would suggest checking out NewEgg.com and browse their laptop section as they have some great prices and customer service.

^^ acer is ok, nothing sectacular but I'll serve it's purpose.
I built my own laptop like that. It's great. I've tried to sell some of them but people are leary of getting a warranty from asus because even though they are huge 9/10 people haven't heard of them.
