This is Hwy 89 through the AZ mountains to Jerome,AZ (which is atop the mountain).
I know a_gut knows about it...
MK3Design...I'm inviting you to do this drive with me. If you're up for it. The later at night the better. The google earth screen shots don't do it justice, only the real thing can show you the real test this road gives to driver's.
There are no gaurd rails in many spots and oversteer=death. No joke.
17 miles of pure sex on wheels.
btw, bucket seats HIGHLY recommended!!!

oh and to the ABQ guys...(REDZ, Faith, AJ, Cycso):
Jerome Run kicks Crest Run's ass.

but I do think Crest Run's view is simply amazing. Beats Jerome anyday.

sure go ahead.
WORDS OF ADVICE:
Do not do this run alone. period.
Do not even attempt to do this drive before 9pm any time ever!
(unless you just want to drive along it behind a grandma at 5mph to get the "fee" for the road).
Personally I'd go no earlier than midnight. You still see one or two drivers out there at midnight.
Don't go balls to the wall your first run.
Things that help:
HID's (that's why I bought mine).
Bucket seats
lightened Flywheel and good clucth, LOTS and LOTS of downshifting...
5 points
and lastly, don't take this one to seriously:
when driving from Prescott TO Jerome, you will pass a pull-out point where you can park and look down into the gorge. There are two mountains to your right and the road ahead curved to the right and goes downhill.
AFTER THIS POINT:
The Jerome Police like to patrol the road.
Now honestly, there is no way a car could hide on the side of the road (no shoulders at ALL)
shoulders= either a cliff or the face of a mountain.
I have never seen a cop on that road and if he ever saw me I was going way to fast for him to even try and take his Vista Cruiser out after me. wink1.gif
01IMPORTSHARK:
keepit on the DL. Tell your friend's to at least. This is "my run" and if word gets out and it gets real crowded some nights then cops really will start to patrol and things could get dangerous.
Have fun. TEll them to invite me. You'd be surp[rised how weel my tib performs on this run. I outran an s2K, Scion Tc, Acura RSX, turbo-ed 97 eclipse. haha. it's not all about straight line's mofos cool.gif

Looks like a nice run. In Jax we have nothing like that at all, just straight roads mainly except for (Eagle Harbor and Gate pkway have little curves) Remember to keep it safe I dont go fast on a new track until the second or third time, but this is so long I would wait until the fourth.

I was gonna post this in a seperate thread and start a drive directory w/ maps and google earth snap snots of each, but...eh. Just not enough AZ tibs that meet up often. sad.gif
which is sad cuz I'm in Tucson, AZ RIGHT NOW, and I sa plenty of RD's and GK's. I even GK's and one RD (yellow RD2) cruisin together onto I-10 at the Speedway Dr. entrance.
...was that you Cherba?
anyway here's a list I got going if ya in AZ with a tib and feel like driving some twisties!
Highway 89 from Wickenburg to Yarnel is a twisty two lane right up Yarnel Hill.
Continue on 89 towards Prescott and you will find some really nice curves on White Spar.
On the north east side of Prescott Valley on Highway 89A is Mingus Mountain. 158 curves in 12 miles.
Then there is my favorite stretch of highway. Its not super twisty but has plenty of curves. It has the best views in the state if you ask me. Its a portion of 89-A called Oak Creek Canyon.
Then finally another kick ass part of road as long as there isn't any traffic is the road to the ski resort Snowbowl.
Out of Phoenix try the Salt River Canyon Run, that is some nice twisties on the way up to Show Low...
Mt Lemon is a good road, depending on time of day and traffic...
Gates Pass/Kinney Rd on the west side by Old Tucson Studios is short but fun road...
HWY 83 headed down toward Sonotia has an awesome 10 mile stretch...
Kitt Peak Observatory Rd off of HWY 86 headed to Ajo is fun, lots of twisties...
Probably one of the best i've been on is Mt Graham, here is a map, but it definitely doesn't do the road justice...
and if I'm ever not so damn busy I'm gonna go to the famous coronado trail in eastern AZ. It's like a 12hr+ drive but friggin bad arse!!

Any other suggestions?
