Default Ignition

Can anyone give me any information that they know about the ignition system on a Lanos?

I heard that it's a multispark system, anyone else hear this and also any other info would be helpful.

Also, Can someone give me some links for plug wires.

Thanks,
Shaun

I've also heard that as well, that it's multi-spark. Haven't verified it as yet tho.

Has anyone out there upgraded their ignition / electrical systems?

I need to know who makes plug wires for the 1.6L lanos and what the number is on our plugs?

Also the questions about distributor, coil, multi-spark or not, ...etc...

Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.

it is a split coil, distributerless ignition with a waste spark for the exhaust stroke.

Watse spark? As in a controlled backfire? Interesting. So in effect it is a multi-spark system. My ignition system is very distributor-full! The 1.5 8valve doesn't have the luxury of the distributorless system. Wonder if I'm still privy to the waste spark?

Mine's the same. The coil I can find on Delphi's website. Even the plug wire boots, and connectors..everything and it's function and tolerances! But it doesn't say if the system is multispark or not.

Well as for the local auto shops, if they can't find my car in their book or computer they can't find anything. They don't know how to cross reference anything. No one up here has even heard of Daewoo so it makes it a little harder to get any support from a local auto shop.

Jason, Thanks for that info, very helpfull.

I was told in the Yahoo forum that Magnacore makes a set of plug wires for a 1.6L Lanos for around $94.

Jason, what did you put into your ignition system?

Thanks,
Shaun

That's so true about those auto parts guys. I called a Pontiac dealer in New York, asked him about a V5 a/c compressor (the same as every mid-size GM car uses) and the man was stumped!! I had to tell him Le Mans. The that came with it's share of questions from him. Whew. Here in Jamaica our parts guys "know about" ! Trust me. They are usually quite helpful and will (and can) tell you what is compatible and to what degree. And they normally have the prices at the tip of their tongues!! How they do it I will never know.

i dont have an ignition system yet. i just got the new engine in. i plan on atleast trying to make an msd dis2 work. msd has no idea about daewoos, so i will have to figure it out for myself. i need to retard my timing to put a larger n2o shot on my engine, but i only want it to retard when i use the n2o.
